CHAPTER 07

Kasper glanced at me and swiftly gestured to hold his arm as soon as he stood beside me after getting out of the car. And so I cling onto him but we did not proceed inside yet nang mag-ring ang phone ko bigla. I took the call immediately when Kasper nodded as a response.

"Serena, nandito na kami," ako ang unang nagsalita pagkasagot ko ng tawag ni Serena.

[Hello, babe, my gosh, really?! Pumasok na kayo rito!] Serena sounded excited which made me smile.

Bumaling ang tingin ko kay Kasper na tila naghihintay ng aking signal. I caught him looking at me at hindi siya nagulat kahit kaunti man lang nang magtagpo ang mata naming dalawa, bagkus ay ngumiti pa siya nang mas malawak. Tumango na lang muli ako bilang senyales na pumasok na kami.

"Yeah, we're coming now. See you in a bit," I smiled and ended the call, putting the cellphone back in my purse.

Then, we started walking. And as the anxiety slowly eats me up, I couldn't help but to tighten my hold onto his arm. Napalingon na lang ako kay Kasper nang walang pasabi niyang inilipat ang pwesto ng kamay ko to intertwine his hand with mine.

I felt myself stiffened for a little moment, like there were butterflies in my stomach, but then, I had to relax myself as soon as I saw a manly figure walking towards our direction.

"Bro, you came! Long time, no see, Joaquin!"

I took a step back when Kasper let go of my hand as he and the man gave each other a bro hug. "The last time we met was just last week in the campus, Gideon. OA mo."

It did not last long because both of them immediately looked at me. I composed myself, looked down on my outfit before plastering a small smile.

"Woah, your girlfriend?" A playful smile was evident on the guy's face as he lends a hand for a handshake, pasimple pang nginisian si Kasper na nasa gilid ko.

"Friend lang," ako na ang sumagot at saka ngumiti. "I'm Eliott Suarez, by the way," I added, shaking his hand na kaagad ko ring binitawan.

Bahagya pa akong nagulat when I felt warmth on my waist from Kasper's hand nang hapitin niya ako palapit sa kanyang tabi. I bit my lower lip to hold myself back from making an obvious reaction.

"The name's Silver Ferrell. Please don't bother calling me Gideon like this guy does. Silver's fine," he spoke in a friendly tone. I mouthed an 'oh' nang mapagtanto ko kung sino siya.

Silver Gideon Ferrell. That's his name.

"Okay. Uhm, happy birthday, Silver," ngumiti ako, trying so hard not to look or sound awkward.

Silver chuckled, probably can read my facial expression. Still, he answered in a carefree vibe, "Well, thank you, Eliott. You look ravishing tonight, too. For sure, as always." Then he raised a brow and smirked.

Hindi ako naging handa sa kanyang sinabi ngunit hindi ko na rin magawang makapag-react agad nang gumilid na siya at simpleng itinuro ang daan papunta sa actual venue ng party.

Kasper's grip on my waist tightened and my lips somehow parted when I heard Silver mumbled something pagkaraan ni Kasper sa kanyang tapat. I mean, hindi naman sa sinusubukan kong mag-eavesdrop, pero sinusubukan ko nga talaga.

"You're still a big flirt, huh? Just exclude her from your list," my forehead creased as I got to listen to what was Kasper whispered to Silver. Sunod kong narinig ang tawa ni Silver kaya't napalingon ako sa kanila. "Welcome your other visiters, boomer. Happy birthday."

Pagkatapos ay naglakad na kami ni Kasper palayo kay Silver. Saglit pa akong lumingon sa likuran at nakita siya roong natatawa't umiiling. Hindi naman ako nagsalita para mag-comment sa kanilang interaction kanina, ngunit sinubukan ko na lang silipin ang mukha nitong katabi ko. I wanted to check his reaction, but I couldn't help but to admire his side profile. God really spent so much time to make this man, huh?
