"You need to give yourself some time to aim, Miss Luda." Alfred said as he passed the throwing range to drop off Bruce's newspaper.
Luda let out a frustrated sigh. Why she had agreed to join Bruce in his endeavors as Batman she would never know. She didn't realize how much work even becoming 'Wren' would take her. How Dick and Jason had done it in a few weeks. All they wanted her to make sure she could do was throw a knife. She hated it. It was too difficult, how would she even make sure she could do it in high pressure.
"It's too difficult Alfred. Can't I do something else? Why do I have to use throwing knives?"
"You'll have to speak to Master Bruce if you wan't to try something different, Miss Luda."
"Yeah, I know, I'll ask tomorrow." Luda sighed, sitting down into one of the comfy seats that were scattered around the cave. "I'm just not a knife person. It's just not me."
"You'll find something eventually Miss Luda. Just as the boys did. It might take you a while, so be patient."
"бъдете търпеливи задника ми" Luda muttered.
"Watch your language Miss Luda." Alfred said patiently before walking up the stairs to give Bruce his newspaper.
Luda stood up again. She picked up another knife and moved it around in her hand. How anyone could do it she couldn't tell. 'One more try couldn't hurt.' She thought. She lined up her body and pulled her throwing arm back. She began to aim at the knife at the target. She threw and once again missed. She groaned in frustration. It was impossible!
"You're doing it wrong, that's why it isn't landing." Jason said, seemingly appearing out of thin air.
"It's too difficult! I can't do it!"
"Well, you need to be able to at least land one bullseye to even be able to choose another weapon. Throwing knives are basically everyone's backup weapon and I don't think you'll be overpowering full grown men anytime soon."
"So, are you going to teach me then?"
"Nope, don't think I will. Especially not with that attitude." Jason said to his little sister, before turning his back and beginning to walk away.
"шибан хуй" She whispered under her breath. "Jason!" She said louder. "Please can you help me. I really really want to do this and if I can't even throw a knife what use am I actually going to be?"
"Fine, I'll help you." He sighed, walking back over to the throwing range. "I'll demonstrate first." He picked up a knife, flipping it in his hands a few times before finally getting into position. "Okay, so you're going to want to stand sideways. It's kind of like shooting a bow. You want to keep it close to your head and then move it forward. Also, a loose grip. Two fingers only. Only vertical movement in your wrist."
Jason showed Luda his grip on the knife. It was looser than she'd been holding it, that was for sure. Unlike her whole hand grip on the knife, Jason only had his thumb and pointer finger on the knife and was allowing the blade to lightly rest on his hand. "When you go to throw it, you're going to want to swing your arm forward and flick your wrist halfway through. When you flick your wrist is when you release it. It should land where you want it to go." Once again he demonstrated. Bullseye. A perfect goddamn bullseye.
Luda's jaw dropped. It was completely insane. She'd been trying for ages and he got a bullseye on his first throw! "Now, you get to try."
Nervous Luda once again picked up one of the throwing knives. She took Jason's advice in. Loose wrist, loose hold. Stand sideways and look at the target. Aim like a bow. Flick the wrist and swing your arm forward. Release. Every single instruction went in. She threw it.
Luda closed her eyes in anticipation and instead of hearing the usual clang of metal against stone, she heard the distinct solid thump of the knife hitting the model. She opened her eyes. And, although she didn't hit the center of the head, the bullseye, she had hit the stomach, which in her mind was a huge improvement. She smiled, jumping up and down yelling in triumph.
Finally, she was one step closer to becoming the Wren.
Hi Guys!
It's a new update! I hope you all enjoy it.
Sorry it's been so long since I updated. I've had some major writers block for quite a while now and I've finally gotten over it, so expect alot more updates from me in the future!
I hope you guys are all staying safe during this pandemic and I wish you and all your family well. For those of you participating in the BLM protests over the world, I hope you and your fellow protesters stay safe and well. Your cause is a great one and I wish I could be there to support you all but I am unfortunately a key worker so I have to keep working.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
