At the end of the day Misha was sitting in one the couches relaxing after a stressful day. The day had come to an end but it was the beginning of her new life, the one she was going to try and enjoy until the rest of her days.

Misha pressed the botton on her digital clock that spoke out the time and day, "7:36 p.m. February 29th."

A knock on the door was heard and Misha jumped slighlty, surprised that there would be anyone wanting to meet her at this time at night.

She got up from her spot and directed herself towards the door making sure not to undo the latch and hiding behind the door in order for them no to see her.
At the end of the day, she had never gained the confidence that her parents had oh so desperately wanted her to have. To live her life as a person that could stand up for herself and not take shit from anyone.

Yet she never felt like she could. Certainly not now without the help of her parents.

Opening the door slighlty she heard of female voice on the other side."Hello?", she asked confused by the fact that she couldn't see her new neighbors face. "Hello" Misha said in a small voice, appearing only the slightest bit without directing her face to her.

"My name is Ines Burke, my husband and I are handing out some blankets and candles since it seems that the power isn't coming back anytime soon. I live in the apartment next to yours, 6B", she said with the brightest smile peeping through the crack wanting to take a glance at Misha.

"I don't need it, thank you." Misha said in the same tone still not looking at her. "But it's going to be dark for the rest of the night, I'm sure your going to need them" said Ines.

Hesitantly Misha closed the door to retrieve the latch and fully opened the door facing her knowing for a fact that she would be surprised by her state. Ines was surprised... by her eyes. They had always been hypnotizing, that's what her parents would always say. That they were like a see of grey fog that could leave anyone lost in an abyss.

Ines thought that they were mezmerizing, like nothing she had seen before. With wide eyes she looked away not meaning to stare. "Umm... I really do think you need these... the night gets cold without the heaters on." Inese tried to persuade her. Misha only extended her hands slightly, giving in and signalling Ines to give her the blanket and candles. Carefully, like if she might break, she handed them to her.

Misha felt uncomfortable, and annoyed. She didn't have to be so careful, she wasn't a porcelain doll, she could very well take care of herself. They weren't helping her in anything acting that way. Though she understood, it still annoyed her greatly.
Many times did she wish for her parents to not do that, that she could take care of herself. Little did she know that she would regret that thought for the remainder of her life. "Thank you again... my name is Misha, Misha Wright", she said with a slight smile that didn't reach her eyes.

As she closed the door little by little Ines took hold of it stepped in the apartment and said, "So your new here?" It took Misha completley of guard 'what the hell?' she thought becuase of the way she just barged in without being invited, but she didn't say anything finding it interesting that she wasn't being as awkward to her as  she was just seconds ago.
"Yes, I moved in today" "Really? It seems that you are quite fast getting settled since you can't really tell without any boxes or suitcases out."

Inese looked around the not-so-decorated apartment and looked back at Misha who was just standing there still like a statue looking straight ahead.

Ines started touching everything with her finger, the walls, the tables, the counter, "I hope you enjoy the place... I hope you last" Ines mumble the last part thinking Misha didn't hear it.
