The next morning, Edmund was woken when the door to his bedroom burst open, followed five seconds later by an annoyed groan from Peter.
"Lucy." He heard his older brother mutter.
Edmund smiled to himself and looked across the room where Lucy had jumped on Peter's bed. Trust Lucy to wake early on Christmas morning.
"Get up Peter!" Lucy giggled from where she sat on her brother's legs.
"It's too early." Peter complained.
Edmund frowned, it must be really early for Peter to be saying that, his older brother was such a morning person. Glancing over at the clock he found that it was half past six, causing him to groan much like his brother.
"But it's christmas morning!" He heard Lucy excliam.
"Peter's right Lucy." Edmund muttered, his eyes closing again. "It is rather early."
Ten seconds later Edmund felt a small weight land on his feet, and openening one eye saw Lucy, staring across at him, her blue eyes wide. "Please get up?" She asked sweetly.
Edmund heard Peter snort from where he was still laying in bed, and rolled his eyes. "Fine." He muttered, pulling off the blanket and sitting up. "I'm up."
Lucy beamed at him. "Let's go wake Susan." She said excitetdly.
Edmund sighed. "Why don't you ever wake her first?" He grumbled. "She's in the same room as you."
Lucy didn't answer and just leaped off the bed, bounding from the room and across the halway.
Edmund went to follow her, before turning back around and pulling the blankets off his brother.
"Hey!" Peter cried, trying to tug the blankets back over him, but without much succes.
"If I have to get up then you do to." Edmund said firmly.
"Ugh." Peter muttered, but sat up anyway, climbing out of bed and grbbing his dressing gown.
Edmund did the same and the two headed to the girls room, where they found Lucy sat on the edge of Susan's bed, practically begging her to get up.
Peter chuckled. "Come on Su." He said. "Me and Ed have had to get up, I think it's only fair that you do to."
Susan's eyes opened as she glared at her older brother, before smiling a little at Lucy and climbing out of bed, yawning as she grabbed her dressing gown. "You always wake up so early on Christmas Lucy." She complained, but there was a small smile on her face.
Edmund laughed a little. "I suppose I'll go wake Mum and D-" He stopped dead, as did his siblings, all of them staring at him. After a while Edmund swallowed hard. "I'll go wake Mum." He said hastily before leaving the room, rather too quickly for Peter's liking.
"Peter." Susan said, sighing sadly at the look on her brothers face.
Peter sighed too. "Come on." He said, forcing a smile for his sisters sake. "Let's get downstairs."
Susan nodded in agreement and headed out into the hallway, to see Edmund and their Mum heading out her room.
"Morning." She said, smiling at the three.
"Morning Mum." Peter replied, smiling slightly back at her.
"Take it Lucy woke you?" His Mum replied with a slight laugh.
Peter glanced down at his sister who was grinning up at him, and couldn't help but laugh a little. "Like always." He said.
"Well come on then." Edmund said. "Let's go downstairs."

The rest of the day was spent unwrapping presents, having fun, then it was lunch, followed by games and whatnot, and by the time evening came the five of them were exhausted.
It ended up Susan and Lucy sat on the floor playing a game of snap, their Mum sat by the fire that was burning, reading a book, and Peter and Edmund sat on the sofa, curled up underneath a blanket.
"Snap!" Lucy suddenly shouted, making Peter jump.
"I'm gonna have a heart attack next time you do that Lucy." He muttered, glancing at Edmund who just laughed at him.
"Sorry." Lucy giggled. "But I just won."
"Well done." Susan laughed, shaking her head in amusement.
"Don't you think its time for bed?" Their Mum said after a few moments.
Lucy's face fell. "But I'm not tired." She protested.
"How?!" Peter laughed. "You haven't stopped all day!"
Edmund chuckled. "Even I'm rather tired." He said. "What time is it anyway?"
"Ten o'clock." Peter replied.
"Okay that is a bit late." Lucy said slowly. "But I still don't want to go to bed." But at that moment she yawned, causing everyone to chuckle.
"Come on Lucy." Her Mum said. "Off to bed, and you Edmund."
Edmund looked about to protest but nodded his head in the end, pulling off the blanket and standing.
"Peter and Susan will be up in a bit." Their Mum said when Lucy turned around and opened her mouth.
Lucy nodded and headed out the room, Edmund following slowly behind.
He walked up the stairs behind his little sister before heading into his and Peter's room, closing the door quietly behind him before reaching for his pyjamas.
Once dressed he sat down on the edge of the bed, thinking over the day.
Sure it had been so much fun, Christmas always was, but he still couldn't deny the fact that it had been hard. But he had remembered what Peter had said, that their dad wouldn't want them to be miserable, so had put on a smile and got through the day, and if he was honest, had enjoyed it.
After a little while Edmund climbed into bed, pulling the blanket over him and laying his head on his pillow.
After turning off the lamp he rolled onto his side and very soon drifted off to sleep.
