"𝑊𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 ℎ𝑒𝑟? 𝐼𝑓 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑑𝑖𝑑𝑛'𝑡 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑦𝑜𝑢"

Y/n was about to experience one of the most important days of her life. It was her wedding night. A day all girls dream of. Something about it didn't feel right to her. She had a feeling deep down in her gut that there was something missing.

She was wearing a beautiful dress as white as her lies. Lace on top like her woven uncertainty. Her hair was neatly tied in a bun with a few strands falling on the side of her face, white flowers in her hair. A thin gold necklace caressed her neck. Her veil concealed her beautiful eyes which were filled with fear and sadness. A smile on her face which seemed way too good to be real.

She looked gracefully beautiful like every bride does. And everything was perfect. But something still seemed off to her. He was looking at her with pride, like she was his whole world, like she was the only thing that mattered to him. Some people in the audience already had started crying tears of joy.

The moment she stood in front of him she knew what was missing, 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒.

Overwhelmed by her feelings she ran away in her 3 inches heels . She saw the hurt on his face but she doesn't love him, he deserves someone who loves him. Someone who looks at him like he is their whole world.

She sat on the curb defeated and way too tired to move a muscle. The light from the neon sign lit her face, She had dirt on her cheeks. Tears continuously streaming down her cheeks. She had no place to go. She was wearing a sleeveless high neck dress and it was really cold outside.

She hugged herself to keep herself warm and she continued sobbing not caring who saw her. She felt someone sit beside her. So she turned her face away to indicate she wanted to be left alone.

"May I help you in any way." She looked at him ashamed. She was a shivering and sobbing mess.

There sat Stanley Barber in all his glory, smoking weed. The smoke immediately filling her nose and she coughed.

"Y/n?" Stan asked in disbelief. She nodded muttering a soft Stanley.

"I haven't seen you since the incident at prom. Where were you?" He asked wrapping his brown worn out jacket around her.

"My parents moved away after that." She replied feeling a little better from before.

"What are you doing back in our shitty town?" He asked her curiously.

"Getting married to a man I didn't love." She replied with a hint of sarcasm in her voice.

"That explains the outfit. I was about to mistake you for a stripper." He smiled to lighten the mood and it worked. She laughed at his joke. Oh she was so fond of him back in high school.

She put her hand out asking for the cigarette. They sat in silence sharing a cigarette like old times. Stanley's eyes caught the golden locket in her neck Which was scratched on the edges and a was bit dull.

"Holy shit. You still have the locket?" Stan looked at her with amusement.

"It's my turn. Who got my name?" The young girl looked around the room.

It was Christmas. Y/n was sitting with her family and Stanley because she didn't want him to be alone on Christmas. They were playing secret Santa and she was so excited.

Stan blushed and passed the gift with her name on it. The gift was neatly packed in blue wrapping paper and a golden ribbon on top. She opened the gift to find a locket threaded in a thin gold chain. The moment she put it on she knew she was never removing it.

She removed the chain from her neck and opened the locket. Stanely was at a loss of words. It had a picture of them from high school. There was Dina, Sidney, Stanley and Y/n. They all looked so happy.

"Y/n for god's sake just be ready for the camera." Stanley sighed as he looked at the young teenager applying lip balm on her lips.

"Stan let her take her time." Dina said and Sidney smiled at Y/n.

"Everyone smile!" Stanley yelled as he ran to his position beside Y/n after setting up the camera.

They all gathered and waited for the picture to develop.

"Damn" Sid commented.

"We look so good!" Dina exclaimed.

Sid and Dina were holding hands. Dina was pouting which had caused Sid to
laugh. Stan had wrapped his arm around Y/n's waist and kissed her cheek. She was so shocked that her eyes were closed. A blush on both their cheeks.

He searched in his pocket and removed a charm bracelet. It only had one charm in it. The edges were scratched, the once shiny charm was dull. It was a heart, exactly like the locket. Both having '(your initial) + s' engraved on the back.

She didn't know what came over her but she kissed him and he kissed her back, both desperately trying to grasp their love that had faded like the scratched metal of the charm and locket that were once shiny. But it had faded, she didn't feel the sparks anymore. He didn't get butterflies in his stomach anymore.

"Why are you with someone you don't love?" Stan asked her softly.

"Because it is better than being alone."
