"PeeJ," I called Pj into our bedroom.

"Yeah Love," Pj sat down on the bed.

"I've got fantastic news," I was beaming. My heart was so happy right now, I thought I might burst.

"What?" Pj asked curiously.

"I'm pregnant," I said ecstatically.

Stars bloomed in Pj's green eyes. His cheeks went pink with happiness. He even seemed to be tearing up a bit.

"Are you serious," he barely got the words out, his voice broke halfway through.

"Yeah," I said, and produced a positive pregnancy test.

"Oh my god," Pj pulled me in, hugging me so tight I felt I might break.

"Mind the baby love," I said.

"Oh right," Pj pulled back and wiped his eyes.

...hours later...

"I'm still not over this, I hope you know," Pj grinned at me from his computer.

"Yeah, and you better not be over it for the next eighteen years," I joked.

"I can't wait to tell everyone... oh my gosh," his happy face changed instantly.

"What?" I asked.

"Your grandma is going to kill me," Pj nervously pulled at his hair.

"Oh my gosh you're right," I gasped.

"You're supposed to comfort me, not agree," Pj said dismally.

"She's gonna be so pissed," I said worriedly.

"Look we can do this," Pj said, getting on his knees in front of me.

"We just gotta stick together," he said and kissed my stomach.

"Always," I said, running my hand through his curls.

A few weeks later we traveled to my parents' house for a family dinner. My grandmother would be there, and Pj and I were beyond nervous. She didn't even know that I was living with Pj. I didn't want to disappoint her, but at the same time, I was tired of her judging everyone's worth by her moral code. I doubted she'd even congratulate us at all, even when the child was born.

"We have an announcement," I said once supper was done.

"Oh what is it," My mother asked excitedly.

"Pj and I are going to have a baby," I said, and a resounding cheer went up. Pj smiled at me and squeezed my hand. I looked at my grandma and she was glaring at us.

"Out of wedlock, how disgusting. I've been telling you and telling you this Pj was no good," she stood up, and yelled at us. "I told you not to let her date such a worldly fellow!" She snapped at my mom.

"Hey!" I said angrily. "I'm an adult, my mom doesn't control who I date, I do. Also, she loves Pj, and so do I. I understand these aren't the circumstances you had in mind, but you have no right to call us disgusting. This baby will have two parents who love it, and love each other, and that's more than a lot of people have. I think you should be thankful not judgmental."

After I'd finished my small rant, I sat down. My grandmother looked stunned. I'd never raised my voice to her before.

"Are you listening to this?" She asked my mother and father.

"Yes," my mother said. "And I completely agree.

My grandmother looked taken aback, and was thankfully, stunned into silence. She didn't speak the rest of the evening.

"Don't worry about her," my mom said as we left. "She'll come around, I'll talk to her."

"Thanks mom," I said and kissed her cheek.

"That wasn't SO bad," Pj shrugged. "I wasn't chased out with pitch forks."

"I'm so happy, I don't think that even my grandma being angry can spoil this," I sighed.

"Me too," Pj said, kissing me gently. "This is going to be great."
