Resistant
to her insistence to close the distance
between them, misguided
Her love, one-sided, denial
of his vile guile and wiles
He should be on trial, no doubt about it

your absurd lies, the prize at the end

so fake, comes with

she never bought, only sold
herself, for scraps to sate
the hunger, for fuck's sake
That power did not empower
only drained her by the hour
Drowned screams under the shower
Left her to shiver and cower
in front of the mirror
I tried to warn her
but you were louder, you snake!
Your words sealed her fate
and now it's too late
It's her face, not his, on the pavement
You're not blameless, you know?
She was aimless, with nothing to show
Starving for meaning and love
Love and meaning you couldn't give,
to keep
in her hands forever
So she went looking wherever
for whomever
That's how she found him, so slim
then came crying for me, you see
and forgot all about you, the fool
You're right, that's fair
I wasn't there,
I'll share the burden
of this death, not sudden
but one I saw coming
I was the only one who loved her
the only one who will mourn her
Should've done more for her
Should've listened to her
talked to her
told her to turn away the mirror
held her nearer
assuage the fear in her
helped her see clearer
that true love is not outside
but here inside where there are no lies
Look beyond your shell
