XXIII : Nah, she kinda bad though

Without further ado my loves, here's chapter 23 for all of you! 

Chapter XXIII

That morning I woke up from the best slumber of my life. I was in a good mood and for the first time in a while, I woke up with a smile on my face.

Xavier had come here last night. Sprawling my hand across the bed I tried to locate him with my eyes still closed.

When my hands grabbed onto nothing, me eyes flew open.

He wasn't there.

"Ugh!" I groaned as I stuffed my face into a pillow.

I should've known better! He was going to try and avoid any chance of me asking about the palace.

I understand that he has no reason to trust me but even if I did find out a couple of things, would it really matter?

I wasn't planning on staying here forever and I sure as hell had no intentions of telling all my friends about the weird 'myths and legends' of the palace.

At least no one my age cared about this stuff. Not even Zeke.

Frustrated with Xavier for leaving, I forced myself out of bed and decided that come hail or storm, I was getting some answers today.

With newfound determination, I quickly hopped into the shower, doing my business before changing into a set of comfortable sweats.

I was like a woman on a mission as I went from one room to another. The staff looked worried when they saw me hop around the entire palace, disregarding anything and everything that came in my way.

I finally stumbled across a door that opened up to a big hall.

I could see Xavier and another man discussing something on the other end of the room and I stood there, trying to listen in on what they were talking about.

"The attacks are going to keep on going Xavier! You can't just disregard everything else and go after these people! In fact I bet that's exactly what they want you to do ." 

Xavier sighed, looking tired as he rubbed his hand on his face. I couldn't help but notice his biceps at the movement. 

They were so big, gosh how I would like to touch them.

What even? 

I snapped out of my train of thoughts and focused back on the conversation.

"Mother wants to see you."

At that very moment I sneezed, making my presence known to the two men. Cringing to myself, I shrugged.

Their heads snapped towards me but none of them spoke so I walked towards where they stood.

"You know, it's not very polite to listen in on other people's conversation." Xavier commented.

"Well hello there." I finally said to the stranger, completely ignoring Xavier.

"So, it's true." Said the stranger in what seemed like amusement.

"What is?" I asked.

"That Xavier here, has met his match."

"I'm Xavier's younger brother, Azriel." He introduced himself as he raised his hand to shake with mine in greeting.

"Scarlett, it's a pleasure to meet you." I said, bringing my hand to meet his. But instead of shaking it, he brought it up to his lips and placed a feather like kiss there.

Slowly releasing my hand he said, "The pleasures all mine sweetheart." 

I couldn't help but smirk. 

"So, what are you doing here?" Interrupted Xavier.

"Actually, I think you know exactly what I'm doing here." I replied, "I wanted answers and you chickened out. I'm just a predator looking for my prey." 

I was in full bitchy mood right now and couldn't help but want to taunt Xavier as much as I possibly could.

While Azriel looked beyond amused, Xavier looked as if wanted to wanted roll under a bus.

When I got no reply I continued, "I'll give you so time to think about what you want to tell me and what you want to keep from me. Just know, I want answers tonight."

"I have barely been in your company for a minute, and I think you and I are going to make great partners in crime." Azriel commented happily.

He seemed a lot more open and friendly than Xavier and something told me that the two of us were going to get along just fine.

A small growl emitted from Xavier and both Azriel and I started laughing.

I could hear Hayden calling my name and knew he probably wanted to discuss some techniques I had inquired about the other day.

"That's my cue." I smiled politely at Azriel before throwing a glare Xavier's way. 

Azriel nodded, a small smile on his face.

"Don't even think about it Azriel, I will slit you throat." Xavier threatened. 

Just before I left I heard him say, "Nah man, she kinda bad though. You got lucky."
