Harbin was beautiful with all the Russian-style architectures, famously referred to as the "Ice City" which explains the lasting chill in the Spring weather—Yesi had to be wrapped up in a puffer jacket and wore layers of heat tech the whole time as she found the biting cold unfamiliar for the season. Thankfully she had last minute checked the forecast before leaving. Besides the cold Yesi was also without her most trusted companion for the four days she was there and resulted in taking up Instructor Ding's suggestion—writing a journal of lyrics and other mind scraps. Turns out she found it quite pleasant and now, whenever she has a moment of spare time to herself (like being on the plane, before bed, etc) she found herself gravitating to putting little pieces of her feelings and thoughts into her notebook on various matters. Whatever flooded her mind that particular day...
Yesi returned to Shanghai with another first place award under her belt. Not that she expected anything less—she went with the mindset to win. As Yesi strolled through the campus towards the cafeteria, various chatter on a particular group of most talked about celebrity students buzzed feverishly around. The first year nutrition students were talking about it...third year journalism students...second year music students...second year literature students...If anything travelled around fast in Ming De it would be gossip—can even contend with the speed of light.
"Did you hear? F4 split up! Apparently Daoming Si and Huaze Lei had an argument!"
"That's crazy they have been friends for so long...This is a big matter."
"You won't believe what they were fighting over..."
"It can't be that freshman Dong Shancai, can it? I saw her hanging around Huaze Lei!"
"Rumour has it they're dating now!"
"That's so absurd! Wasn't Huaze Lei in love with Jing xuejie?"
"If that average looking girl has a chance it means all of us have a chance."
"That Shancai is so annoying!"
A male student ran over to alert the group of girls, "you know what just happened? Huaze Lei and Dong Shancai just got a joker card!"
"Can you guys move? You're blocking my way." Yesi hissed. Marginally shoulder-checking one of the gossipers as she tried to weave her way past the group of girls and boy. She can care less what is true or not—why is it any of their business who the girl likes or which guy chooses the girl? It has no direct relation to any of them. Listening to all of this, Yesi feels by every passing minute her brain cell count depletes like moths to a flame. She needs to get her fix of coffee and strawberry milk without delay and isolate herself in her safe zone: the practice room.
"Ah! Wasn't that the cello demon...?!"
Yesi rolled her eyes as she took bigger strides to carry herself away from the pack of dimwits as fast as possible.
Wasn't F4 and Dong Shancai getting along fine and hanging out at Spades not too long ago? Now whatever happened over the course of the past week has left one F4 member singled out and challenged to play a game of Bridge. Everyone at Ming De University knows a challenge to the game of Bridge by F4 meant you were under their radar. This can account to various possibilities but most outcomes that came out result in outrageous consequences, like the time when an underclassman allegedly ate a pair of slippers. Or worse, like last year in December when a junior business administrative major from the Hua electronic company was made to streak across the campus then wade around the big fountain in the main courtyard. One can only imagine the humiliation...Before the end of term he had already transferred to a different school.
