There is a realm on the other side of reality. A veil lifted up so high it stops the mortals from ever seeing through. In this world there are only gods and goddesses. There is only life for a life. Sacrifice for power. Mercy and Prey, two lesser gods of life and death, were born into a world were their dearest god forces their hand...upon each other. But how can one kill when memory exists? How can one harm when promises are made? There is no god of love. There never was. So why should they pray to someone who will never answer? Why expect mercy from the ruthless? If one has to choose, freewill over power, what's the obvious choice?

MERCY- She's not a killer. Power doesn't come easy in a world where everyone is blood hungry and adamant on rising above others. The truth is easy to hear: in order to ascend, to be normal, Prey must die...by her hands. Thinking it and feeling it are two different things. And being stuck with him isn't ideal in the slightest. When all he wants is his hands around her throat and her blood staining his skin it's hard to imagine living in a world where her life isn't on the line. Only deep down there's something a bit like trust between them. Some bitter, deformed version of trust that stops her from slitting his throat.

PREY- Mercy isn't beautiful. He's never thought of her in that way. She's merely a girl that rejected him when they were twelve and now, in order to appease the gods, he must slay her. It seems like justice but it feels a little twisted...even for him. All he wants his power, the more the merrier. But somehow Mercy has a way of slipping from his grip, saying words that mess with his head. Yes, he trusts her more than he trusts himself but life demands death, specifically hers.

ERNEST- He didn't mean to stumble into the realm of gods and lesser gods

ERNEST- He didn't mean to stumble into the realm of gods and lesser gods. He didn't mean to stop the arrow meant for the beautiful girl with a daggers in her hands or get in the way of a boy wielding a sterling crossbow. It just...kinda happened. Of all things to understand in a world such as this their rivalry confounds him. But he knows they must understand him...for sacrifices are being made in the mortal realm that could be the end all of everything.
