Part A. Glossary

Ab scientia libertate, ab libertatem pax: "In knowledge, freedom. In freedom, peace." The motto of Bragdon Academy.

Crede quod habes, et habes: "Believe that you have, and you have." Or, colloquially: fake it 'til you make it.

Daeira: "The Knowing One." An epithet emphasizing the winter aspect of Persephone, who understands the mystery of life and death.

Kykeon: a traditional Greek beverage made from water, barley, and herbs. Sometimes had psychoactive properties, which historians believe was due to a fungus which grew on the barley.
