"Everything alright?" The guy asked and Jimin would have answered but years of being told that he had to stay away from them, from guys like him, didn't help with that at all. An uncomfortable silence loomed over them and Jimin just wished he could say something, just anything, at least thank the guy, but his body didn't move.

As if realizing their situation, the fact that Jimin was human and human's and his kind just didn't talk, the guy opened his mouth in a small 'oh' before nodding.

"Ah... Sorry for scaring you... I'll be leaving them." The guy had already turned around when Jimin finally got a grip of himself. This wasn't like him. He wasn't such a dick to people who helped him usually.

"Wait!"

The guy turned around again, a hint of a smile on his lips. "So you do have a voice."

Jimin rolled his eyes before crossing his arms over his chest. He knew that it was kind of weird to do but he felt more confident in his words like this and the guy had saved him so he didn't want to just let him leave without at least showing gratitude. No matter if he was human or not. Jimin didn't want to be one of those racist dicks that treated the guys kind like some danger. Officially they weren't and the guy had just saved Jimin's life so Jimin was willing to risk it. "Uhm... as a thanks... could I invite you for some coffee or something like that? As a thanks." he offered, his voice sounding awfully small.

The guy raised an eyebrow, mimicking Jimin's body language by crossing his arms over his chest too. This time Jimin actually noticed how good he looked with his shoulder muscles bulking at the movement. Not the right time though. It still was one am... which usually might have been the right time, but at least the place didn't quite fit. "You sure you want to invite me for coffee? You seem scared."

Jimin shook his head. "No, I'm not." That was a lie. But a white lie and not exactly a blatant one since his voice sounded a lot more stable this time. Might have been because his mind had gone somewhere else, distracting him from all the horror stories he'd heard so far.

The guy's posture seemed to soften as he sent Jimin a short smile. "I'm Jungkook."

Jimin kept getting distracted by the guy's eyes, simply because of how unusual they were, but he forced himself to focus, uncrossing his arms. "Jimin. Nice to meet you. And thank you for earlier."

The guy, Jungkook, shook his head. "It was nothing. They just ran the moment they saw me."

Jimin chuckled. "I mean, I get it. Was my first instinct as well. But you seem nice enough." Maybe it was a bit early for teasing but it just slipped past Jimin's lips without much of a second thought, his usual character coming through. Jungkook seemed like the type of person who could take it.

"Yeah, you looked like a deer caught in headlights. I'm hurt. I just helped you, you know?" he brought his hand up to his heart, like it was hurting, and Jimin couldn't help but laugh.

"Sorry. When you hear something often enough you just end up believing it until someone proves you wrong." he admitted, brushing his bangs out of his face, already relaxing around the guy. He seemed nothing like the stories he'd always heard about his kind.

"So... you wanted to pay me back with coffee?" Jungkook asked, waiting for Jimin to confirm it with a nod. Then he continued. "I doubt any cafe is open right now though."

Jimin thought for a second. "Well, we could quickly go grab some from the convenience store, but that one sucks and I wouldn't feel like I'm actually doing you a favor, so how about we exchange numbers and grab coffee together sometime?"

Jungkook seemed surprised at Jimin's suggestion and admittedly Jimin was surprised too. But he couldn't help but feel like he wanted to get to know Jungkook. It wasn't like any of those horror stories were actually true. Just like Jimin Jungkook was a completely ordinary member of society. Just one with a little unique genes.... genes that had once, in their original form, belonged to a species that used to eat humans, but Jimin was not going to think about that now, while he was asking the guy out... for coffee. He was just asking him out for coffee.

"Uhm yeah. Sure... if you're comfortable with that." Jungkook still was obviously a bit confused by Jimin's sudden shift in behavior.

"Good." Feeling oddly calm Jimin unlocked his phone, opening 'create a new contact' before handing Jungkook his phone. "Type in your number."

Jungkook did, his hands quickly working the keys and Jimin had that sudden moment of realization that he had to be on his phone just as much as Jimin. Which felt weird because everything Jimin connected with what Jungkook was was not normal, and yet that guy was standing there doing the most normal thing Jimin could come up with.

Jungkook handed him back his phone and Jimin dialed the number to make sure Jungkook had his too. "There you go. Do you have time tomorrow? I'm busy in the morning but my afternoon is mostly free."

"Uhm yeah. Sure." Jungkook said, still seeming surprised Jimin was casually talking to him. Jimin wondered how many times that had happened so far, with all the prejudices directed at his kind going around.

"Great. I look forward to buying you coffee." Jimin smiled before pointing into the direction of the dorm. "I'll have to go now. My friend is waiting for me." Jimin stated, thinking that this was going to be their goodbye. But to his surprise Jungkook had to walk into the same direction. So they did, an surprisingly comfortable silence surrounding them. Jimin didn't feel like he had to talk, but when they took the same turn again he did so anyways because he was genuinely curious about Jungkook.

"So, are you in high school or college... or do you work already?" he asked as they got closer to his dorm.

"High school senior." Jungkook answered, pushing his hands into his pockets, and something about the gesture was adorably awkward. Jimin couldn't pinpoint it exactly but it made him feel a certain way.

"Same." Jimin grinned before coming to an halt. "Well, we'll have to say good bye now though. I have to go in there." He nodded towards the front door of the dorm he and Hobi lived in.

Jungkook's eyes widened comically and he suddenly looked younger. "Wait, really? I live here too."

Jimin let out a disbelieving giggle. "What? How come I haven't seen you before?"

Jungkook scratched the back of his head, smiling awkwardly. "We... I am not exactly welcome in the shared areas so I mainly stick to my room."

Something about that felt wrong to Jimin. Yeah, he knew he was being a hypocrite considering his reaction just minutes earlier, but Jungkook didn't seem like a bad guy to him and it really felt unfair that he was being treated that way. That was basically racism, wasn't it?

"That's so mean... I don't know about my roommates, but if you wanna go somewhere else than your room some time you could come to mine. That way we could also get to know each other." He smiled brightly while waiting for Jungkook's reaction. For some reason he was almost scared of being rejected. But then Jungkook blushed and nodded slowly and Jimin was fucking sold. He knew who he was going to do everything in his power to befriend.

"Thanks."

Jimin cooed before smiling widely again. "No problem. I'll have to go inside now, or my roommate is going to actually worry." For a second he hesitated, then he opened his arms, inviting Jungkook for a hug. "It was nice to meet you." He knew that he was a bit too touchy for some but it was just him being himself, so he was at least going to offer Jungkook the option to hug him.

And Jungkook did, squeezing Jimin just a bit too tightly with those strong arms of his, but Jimin wasn't going to complain, at least as long as he still got air.

"It really was nice to meet you too." Jungkook stated, smiling genuinely before walking down the dorm hallway into a different direction than Jimin.

"See you." Jimin yelled before covering his mouth with his hands, realizing that he had been just a bit too loud considering that it was one... no, actually two am at this point.
