Dinner was on the table, or at least Neo's was and Neo and Yuna were looking out the window, the latter eating from her bowl, because that's a better view than a certain duo. Iva was trying to play with Hail, but her mind was occupied with something else, I mean someone else. Noah and Abel were sitting on the couch, eating their food.

"Uncle Noah... Do you know where my father is?" Iva asked, "I haven't seen him around... I asked mom, but all she said was to not worry. She actually made me promise not to bug you about this... so please don't tell her I asked you, okay?"

"...Something happened, your father had to go take care of it," Noah lied through a smile, "Your mother's right, don't worry too much."

"Pfft," Neo chuckled.

Iva is too precious for this family. Both her and her mother. Yuna thought.

"Where did you get that?" Abel asked, "Your earring. I saw it glow and stuff came out of it... What is that earring?"

Neo thought to himself. How should he respond? What's the best way to amuse himself on this fine evening? "It's a gift from dearest 'father'. Too bad he didn't give you one huh? Too bad," Neo shrugged his shoulders, hoping to annoy Abel even more.

"PFFT," Yuna covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing too loudly.

An irritated expression filled Abel's face. He turned to look at his father for a response, but Noah turned away because he didn't know what to say.

"..." Abel got up and smacked his empty bowl on the table before walking off.

"You made him mad..." Noah said.

"Thank you, Captain Obvious," Yuna said.

"That was hardly entertaining. Way too easy," Neo said, "Besides, was it really me who made him mad? He looked to you for an answer, 'dad'. Only giving one of your 'sons' a gift, aren't you being a bit biased?"

"I'm going to check up on him," Noah said.

He put his bowl on the table as well and then walked off.

"..." Iva was still sitting there, sadly being an audience to some family trauma, "Cousin, you don't like Uncle Noah?"

"What made you think so?" Neo asked.

"The way you look at him..."

"I look at everyone the same way."

"It's different. You look at everyone else as if they were just air. They don't matter to you. But your gaze is cold every time you look at Uncle Noah."

She's sharper than I gave her credit for... Yuna thought.

"Well, you aren't wrong. I do hate him," Neo said.

Neo got dragged away by Mana. Yuna ditched him since Mana tend to chat quite a lot when she wanted to talk. Instead, she was looking around the house, bored. She walked past the door to the backyard and noticed the door was recently opened.

Which dumbass went outside? Yuna internally groaned.

Yuna opened the door with a loud crack. The scene shocked her.

There was an enlarged black snake pinning Noah to the ground. He was bleeding. Multiple injuries, plus definitely used his power, meaning, he was going to pass out from blood loss soon. However, Abel was unharmed. He was standing a bit farther away, crying.
