Marielle's perspective
"So, the yule ball is coming up, who ya thinking of asking" Elijah asked the group as we walked to history of magic
"hmm I don't know, probably that boy from Ravenclaw" Amari announced whilst tripping over his shoelaces making the group laugh, it had been great to finally have friends, I finally felt like I had a people I could trust. It had only been a month and I already felt comfortable around them all.
"Angela" both Theo and Elijah said in unison
"uh no I'm asking Angela" Theo narrowed his eyes at Elijah. Angela was a tall blonde Beauxbatons girl that every boy drooled over
"nuh uh" Elijah and Theo had started 'play fighting' again
I just rolled my eyes and continued walking; it was a cold day and I was freezing even with many layers of sweaters and beanies.
"who are you asking" Kai tilted his head down at me
"I'm not a big fan of fancy ball's, I probably won't go" I said bluntly
"WHATTTT" Elijah had caught up
"you have to go Hufflepuff, we'll be sad if ya don't" all the boys gave puppy dog eyes
"hmm, fineee" I chuckled softly
"great! then I can take you fairy, I don't have a date otherwise" Kai scratched the back of his head
"yeah cause you're so ugly" Theo mumbled sending Kai into a fit of rage
The day dragged on, but the boys made it more bearable as they would float paper from across the room with dumb sketches of teachers. Hogsmeade was tomorrow and the boys were planning on going shopping for suits because they needed 'specific colors' whatever that meant, my mother said she was going to send me a dress for the ball that I didn't really want to go to but Kai was depending on me so I had to.
The boys had dragged me down to the lake so I could teach them to dance for the yule ball, outside was cold and my hands were numb, the lake was almost frozen over.
"Fairyyyyyy" Kai moped
"please teach us to danceeeeee" once again the boys were giving me puppy dog eyes which I couldn't say no to
"why do you want to learn to dance so bad" I asked while rubbing my hands to try and keep warm
"We'll make a fool of ourselves if ya don't" Elijah pleaded grabbing onto my hands desperately
"ok" I rolled my eyes
The boys jumped up and down in an odd manner, it took a couple of hours before they didn't look so ridiculous dancing. I enjoyed watching this play out as they were all quite hopeless but hilarious, leaving me in a fit of laughter every minute.
"I-its so cold" I shivered my teeth chattering from the icy wind nipping at my nose
"oh nooooo, don't die" Elijah joked, scooping me up in a bear hug, as he usually does
"Elijahhh I can't breathhhh" he slowly dropped me back into the snow
"we better go before you actually die of cold" Kai bent down and plopped his robe on my head giving me an extra layer of warmth and we trudged back up to the stone castle.
"guys I'm just going to go to bed" I announced still shivering, my head was spinning, and my body felt numb
"you alright fairy" Kai asked with his brows furrowed
"I'm fi-" the dizziness overtook me and I blacked out the cold enveloping me in darkness
Kai's perspective
"oh my god we killed her" Amari yelped
Marie fell into my arms, her body cold and limp. I scooped her up trying to wake her
"Marie?" Theo poked her face
The boys started taking off their jackets and piling them on top of her body, I was already running towards the hospital wing hoping that whatever this was wasn't serious., the boys followed closely behind
"we killed her, we killed her" Amari whined
"we didn't kill her you idiot" Theo retorted running out of breath as we reached the hospital wing
"MADAM POMFREY!" I yelled
"what is it Mr. parker" she sounded frustrated peering behind one of the screens
"We accidentally killed Marie" Amari blurted as Elijah and Theo both elbowed him in the side
Madam Pomfrey quickly ran over to me studying Marie's cold, still face.
"bring her over here" Madam Pomfrey asked sternly
I followed and gently placed her on the white hospital bed, she still had not moved and I couldn't see if she was breathing. A horrible feeling washed over me, 'what if she really did die' I thought a tear seeping through my eye, but I quickly wiped it away with my sleeve.
"is she ok" I asked quietly as Madam Pomfrey poured some liquid into her mouth
"luckily yes, if you boys had brought her here any later, she wouldn't have been" Madam Pomfrey passed a tissue to Amari who was a crying mess.
"now you must leave, its late and she needs rest" The boys nodded picked up their jackets and walked out looking less enthusiastic than I've ever seen them.
"I'm not leaving" I said firmly
"Mr. parker I suggest you do" she narrowed her eyes at me
As a reply I stood my ground firmly 'I can't leave her in this state' I thought
"Very well then Mr. parker, if you must stay here, she needs warmth so figure something out" she pulled the screen across and left into her quarters.
I sighed with relief and looked over to Marie who was still frozen in place, I pulled the blankets up to her chin and reached for her hands and I was instantly shocked at how freezing they were, I wrapped my large rough hands around her tiny smooth fingers and chuckled at how small they were. She hates it when I laugh at how cute and small, she is.
"oh, right I meant to keep you warm" I whispered scouting the room for something warm, with nothing in sight expect stone walls and marble floors I reached into my bag and pulled out a hoodie, carefully pulling it over her head.
I didn't get much sleep as I was checking on Marie every second I could, she didn't move just laid there motionless a peaceful expression her small face
