Chapter 4: Such a Hothead

She looked up to see Laxus sitting on the second floor, his headphones over his ears and his eyes closed. She turned her head to find Gajeel munching on some iron in the frame of the top of the guildhall above.

"I'm going for some fresh air." She announced to the table. They all showed some acknowledgement. She stood up and made her way to the door. A few minutes after she left, a couple of other people followed after her.

She knew that they would be following. After breaking out into a sprint to reach her destination, she took in the familiar landscape before her; the crystal clear lake surrounded by green grass along with the forest to her right. With her dragon slayer hearing, she could hear footsteps behind her. Knowing they would follow her scent, she climbed a tree and hid there, making absolutely no noise. She silently smirked after seeing Natsu, Gray, Laxus and Gajeel below her.

"What're you doing here?" Gajeel asked first.

"We could ask you the same thing." The other three replied in unison. Calista tried her best to conceal her laughter.

"I needed some fresh air." Gajeel lied.

"Yeah okay ironhead." Laxus retorted.

"What did you say lightning breath?" Gajeel asked.

"You heard me metal mouth." Laxus snarled.

Calista could no longer hold in her laughter as the four of them broke out into an argument of insults. She lost her balance on the tree branch she sought refuge on and fell, but thankfully landed on her feet. She looked up at the boys as they looked back at her.

"Huh, you're all a lot taller than I thought." She said.

"How much of that did you hear?" Natsu asked, only to get a slap to the back of the head from Gray.

"You idiot! Obviously she heard all of it since she was hiding in the tree." He said.

"How did you know we were coming?" Laxus asked. She smirked.

"You couldn't have made the staring any more obvious. Plus, I could tell I piqued your interest." She answered, leaning against the tree. The four of them blushed. She laughed.

Desperate to change the subject, Gajeel asked, "So what kind of magic do you use?"

"Ice dragon slayer magic." She answered. Natsu smiled.

"I challenge you to a fight!" He shouted. Calista rolled her eyes.

"When we get back to the guild hall, I'll take on all of you." She answered calmly.

"What d'ya got a death wish or something?" Gray asked. She calmly walked towards them.

"Don't think I don't know exactly who you people are. I know just about everything about you boys. Spent the last four years listening to your fellow guild members talk about each of you. So think twice before challenging me. I am S-Class after all." And with that she spun on her heel and began walking back towards the guild hall. Once she broke eye contact, they all shuddered.

"Listen girl, I don't know who- Wait a minute, where'd she go?" Gajeel asked as they noticed she was nowhere to be seen.

"Up here!" She sang. They all looked up to find her with ice wings on her back, waving sweetly to them. She laughed and sped back to the guild hall, the rest breaking out into a sprint.

The doors to the guild hall burst open to reveal a group of four annoyed male mages.

"Where is she?" Natsu asked. Said girl snickered from her spot on the bar table where she sat with her legs crossed.

"Can we fight now?" Natsu asked impatiently. She rolled her eyes.

"I guess so." She said, annoyed. "Makarov, I'll be outside fighting Flame Boy over here." She shouted. Catching everyone's attention, once she and Natsu went outside, the rest followed suit.

"Have fun losing, Ice Princess." Gajeel teased. She turned her head around and shot him a glare, but it softened.

"Oh I will." She smiled sweetly. His eyes widened as she turned back around.

"Alright, the first one to fall to the ground unable to get back up, loses." Mira said. They both nodded.

"Good luck!" Calista shouted. He grinned.

"And let the match... Begin!" Mira shouted. They stood there, staring at each other. Then Natsu broke out into a sprint towards her.

"Fire dragon roar!" He yelled, cupping his hands to his mouth and breathing fire at her.

"I don't know how she's going to win if she's ice and he's fire. Fire beats ice." Gray said.

"Don't underestimate her. Too many people have done that and regretted it dearly." Romeo said, defending his best friend.

Calista dodged it at the last second and came back with her own attack.

"Ice dragon iron fist!" She shouted, running at him. He tried to overpower her with his fire to melt the ice but it wasn't working and she nailed him in the face sending him flying back. He let out a groan as he stood up.

"How come I can't melt your ice, what the heck?" He asked. She smirked.

"My ice is much stronger than fire, silly. Nothing can melt it unless I shatter it." She stated.

He growled. "That doesn't matter, I'm all fired up now." He grinned evilly.

He ran at her again, engaging in hand to hand combat with her. They both landed a few hits and he sent her skidding back. She growled and ran at him this time. Natsu threw fire down to create smoke and jumped behind her. She lost sight of him.

"Fire dragon wing attack!" He yelled from behind her. The attack appeared to hit her head on, only to reveal shattered ice. Everyone screamed thinking she was made of ice and he killed her. That was until Natsu was hit by an ice punch to the back of the neck, hitting a pressure point, and he fell to the ground. The dust cleared to reveal Calista facing away from his body on the ground with her head lowered. Some let out surprised yells. Her mouth formed a smile. Romeo cheered.

"She defeated Natsu!"

"She's so powerful!"

"How did she do that?"

"Wow!"

"Ice decoy. One of the many tips and tricks I have up my sleeve. He was too blind to see it. I got his guard down and then defeated him." She stated.

"You're very powerful. I can see why people fear you." Erza said.

"I promise I'm nice." She smiled. A certain pink haired boy groaned. Everyone diverted their attention to him.

"W-what happened?" He asked. Calista laughed (which sounded like music to some's ears).

"I beat your ass that's what." She smirked.

"Aw man, no way did I get beat by a girl!" He whined. She held out her hand for him.

"Maybe when you get stronger we can battle again sometime." She offered with a closed eyed smile. Natsu blushed and accepted her hand. He walked towards Lucy, Gray, and Erza holding his neck. She looked out into the crowd of her guild mates.

"Who's next?" She asked. Her guild mates looked anywhere but at her whistling nonchalantly. She rolled her eyes. "Alright fine, I guess I scared everyone away." She admitted.
