"Professor, I know as a fifth year I'm supposed to do my career review but I was hoping to postpone it until next year." Honora rocked on her heels nervously, watching Mcgonagall grade third year's homework. She noted that Ginny was the only one to receive a decent mark and thought to tell her later.
"And why is that?" She peered over the rim of her glasses, arching an eyebrow. Honora just didn't know what she wanted to do yet, and not only that but her career choice would dictate which classes she'd take as a sixth year and she was going to take everything but Divination anyways. "Well I just don't know to be frank. .And depending how well I do on my O.W.L.'s I was just going to take every class anyway. It can't be any worse than my workload this year."
"Yes, I suppose I could make an exception–since you're new. Why don't you sit, I'd like to discuss something else." Honora obliged immediately, scooting close to Mcgonagall's desk. "Professor Dumbledore told me that you expressed wanting to drop your fourth year classes mid-year?"
"Oh yes. .I'd mentioned it when I first started." Honora had hardly wanted to take the fourth years classes along with her own but when Christmas rolled around she declined to say anything about it. Despite having the busiest term of her life she hadn't wanted to drop anything at all. "Can I ask why you didn't bring it up? You're top of your class in just about everything, you could have if you wanted to."
"Well. .it is a nice refresher of my earlier years at Ilvermony, certainly some things are different but I've noticed some of the material I'm working on in my fourth year classes is in my O.W.L. prep." It was a tremendous help, reviewing important things that would be on the exams everyday, as her other fifth years stressed to remember work from their year before. Leanne Partice had even had to go to Madame Pomfrey for a potion to calm her down after having an anxiety attack from the work load. It wasn't only that reason though that she'd continued with the classes. Honora looked forward to them. She was in every fourth year class with Hermione and just about with Harry and Ron. Despite being friends with the people in her year, she wasn't nearly as close with anyone than 'The Golden Trio'.
"I appreciate your drive to learn Lestrange, if only every student was like you and Miss Granger." She frowned down to a third years homework that McGonagall had practically corrected everything in red ink on. "How do you feel about the tests tomorrow–ready?"
"Oh yes very. The only class that I'm worried about is Muggle Studies. I appreciate what they can do truly–but for the life of me I can't figure out the function of a yo-yo." Honora frowned and missed the slight smile that spread on Mcgonagall's thin lips. "Katie Bell and I are reviewing tonight though."
"Good. I look forward to seeing how well you do. If you truly don't wish to speak about your career, then you must excuse me, Mister McLaggen is next for review." Honora nodded and gathered her backpack before thanking her and departing for potions.
Later that evening after her last class of the day, she sat with Katie Bell in the common room flipping through Katie's Muggle Studies notes. Their deal was that Honora could look through her MS notes, and Katie could review Honora's Transfiguration and Charms notes. The pair were not the only ones seemingly stressing away, all the Gryffindor fifth years flipped anxiously through notes, and practicing spells in the common room. Some first years stayed to watch all of them, amazed by their abilities but most other students had deserted the room not wanting to get in the way.
