Justin's POV:

I'm currently reading a book about weapons. Not about any specific type, just about how they evolved throughout the years. It's pretty helpful for me too, since I use them a lot. The book also described how they were/are used and that's a definite plus for me.

I'm so focused on this book, that I only notice someone walking up to my front porch after I hear a subtle crack, seemingly not too far away from me.
I look up, very alarmed, since I'm the only person who lives here. The next neighbor is about 10 miles away -and that isn't even a resident. It's an old gas station with a small supermarket.

The person walking up to me flinches, probably wondering if I got whiplash or something, but continues walking.

A girl.

Probably around my age, or a little older. Maybe even a tad bit younger, who knows. She looks kinda tired and seems to be alone. I think she's about 5'4 so she isn't too tall.

A hiker?

No, she only has a black backpack and a light grey jacket with her. Also, she isn't big but she doesn't look very trained, probably not an athlete. Weird, why would she walk through the woods with only a small backpack and a light jacket? It gets really damn cold at night. That's pretty stupid of her.

Nina's POV:

I accidentally stepped on a stupid dry leaf and probably gave the guy a heart attack.
Way to go Nina. He turned his head unnaturally fast,

damn.

He probably got whiplash now. Well, I can't walk away or anything, now that he's seen me, so I guess I'll just walk up to him a bit quicker. He gently closes his book and starts to get up as I approach his porch a little slower now. Now that I finally got a bit closer, he's actually really damn tall. About 6'5 I'd say. Well, this is awkward. I'm still walking up to his house and he's just kinda standing there, holding onto the rails of his stairs.

What do I do?

Think quick.

I'll just... wave?
God no. He'll think I'm some psycho.

I'll just... give him a little smile.
Yeah, that'll lighten up the vibe. Because he isn't looking too... happy to see me.
Well, we are in the middle of nowhere and I am a stranger so I shouldn't really expect anything else. Okay, I guess I'll just- uh, smile.

Justin's POV:

Now she's smiling at me. A little unsure, but smiling.

Okay, well I guess I should smile back. So that's what I do. She visibly relaxes at my action as I do at hers. I decide to walk up to her a few steps until we're standing in front of eachother.

"Excuse me Sir?"

Nina's POV:

Okay why in the HECK did I call him sir? He's hardly older than me. And I'm just 18!

Well, lucky me. It's safe to say I embarrassed myself right now.

I slightly start to panic when I don't get an instant reply and just ask my question: "do you, by any chance know if there's any more cabins out here?" He gives me a sorry look.

Shit.

I hope he won't say what I think he'll say.
"Ma'am, this is the only cabin here. The next building is about 20 miles away. And that's just a gas station."

I am shocked.

20 miles?! I mean I know I've been walking for a long while but 20 damn miles? I am so deep in shit. I don't know where I am, I embarrassed myself in front of a stranger, well not that it matters right now since I have no clue how to get home, matter of fact; I don't even have a home.
