The Dance (TREpt2)

Alex POV

Veronica came over at 6:30 to get ready for the dance. The dance doesn't start until 8, but apparently we need an hour and a half to get ready.

" Alright Lexie. Time to do your makeup." Veronica states.

" I was just going to do eyeshadow or something." As soon as I say that I regret it. Veronica spent the next ten minutes lecturing me about how special occasions called for something different, something that will wow everyone.

In the end, I let her do her thing. I was glad I did because Ronnie definitely knew her way around makeup.

When we got to the dance, it was pretty crowded. I turned to Ronnie.  "Dance with me?"

A few songs later and we were watching Betty, she was about to tell Archie how she feels about him. If I'm being honest, I wish she didn't like him. It's selfish of me, but I wish that for once I could like someone, and my sisters wouldn't get a crush on my boyfriend.

Because when they did, I had no choice but to sacrifice my own happiness, all because of Hal Cooper. He made me break up with all of my boyfriends when he found out that one of my sisters liked them. I trued to hang on to Jason, I loved him, but I was put in my place pretty quickly. The bruises have faded, but that "Lesson" of Hal's left a few scars.

My gaze focuses on Betty once again when she walks away from Archie in tears. I guess that she didn't get the reaction she hoped for. Ronnie let go of me to run after Betty, so I found a quiet spot on the wall to wait for them. I looked around to entertain myself.

There wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Just horny teenagers grinding on each other, Moose and Reggie were spiking the punch, Josie and the pussycats were dancing. I hear a familiar voice beside me as Jughead leans on the wall beside me.

" Fancy seeing you here." I turn to look at him. He's wearing casual clothes, and his iconic crown beanie.

" You too Juggie, this doesn't seem like your scene."

He smiles softly at me. " Figured I'd get the high school experience. Now that I have, however, I'm going to Pop's. Care to join me?"

I quickly scan the room for any sign of Betty or Veronica. I meet Ronnie's eyes and signal that I'm gonna go. I turn back to Jughead. " Sure. I'd love to."

With that we exit the school and start walking to Pops.

The door slams open, startling me. Juggie and I look up from our milkshakes. It was Archie. He asks pops if Betty came in before turning to us, with a strange look in his eyes when he sees us together.

" Can I sit?"

Jughead and I look at each other before nodding. I know that Jug's upset that Archie dipped on their summer road trip.

Archie heaved a sigh

" I'm scared that I may have lost my best friend tonight."

That statement in itself was ridiculous. As if Betty could ever hate Archie, no matter how many dumb things he did, she was always there to bail him out.

" If you mean Betty, just talk to her man. It'll go a long way. Would have gone a long way with me." Jughead muttered the last part.

" Thanks Jug. You're the best!" Archie ran out the door. Football players and their inability to walk like a normal person.
