Tessa

"That's not supposed to be a choice. The test should tell us what to do. Your still free to choose, but you don't really want that. Theresa, Beatrice...I want you to chose who you truly are and where you truly belong. Not on a whim. Not because you wish you were someone you're not, but because you honestly know yourself. I want you to choose wisely and I know you will."

"The faction system is a living being composed as cells, all of you. And the only way it can, and the only way it can strive and thrive is for each of you to claim your rightful place. The future belongs to those who know where they belong. when we leave this room, you will no longer be dependents but full-fledge members of our society."

"Faction before blood," Marcus announced. "Faction before blood," everyone said.

"I love you...no mater what," my mom said, but it did little to ease my nerves. "Johnathan Ziegler," Marcus announced, "Erudite." Everyone began applauding

"Jeffrey Yates, Dauntless." Marcus spoke again. "Morgan stokes, Amity." His voice sound once again. Someone began sobbing, I think it was her mother. "Claire Satron, Candor. Sam Robertson, Abnegation." This went on until it came to Caleb.

"Caleb Prior, Erudite." Some people gasped, but soon everyone was applauding. "Go Caleb," I mumbled to myself as I smiled at my brother.

"Quiet, please," Marcus spoke out before continuing, "Beatrice Prior, Dauntless. Theresa Prior, Dauntless." All of the Dauntless began cheering causing me to have to bite back a smile. "Welcome to Dauntless!"

They continued to cheer as we ran down the street in a big clump. We began climbing the beams, so we could get on the railroad tracks.

Once the train came flying through, Beatrice and I looked in pure shock and excitement. "Come on! Lets Go!" A boy exclaimed, breaking our trance.

I couldn't believe that I was running with Beatrice and trying to jump onto a train. This was a mess itself, but we ran as fast as we could. "Come on," a girl then exclaimed causing me to look over at Beatrice. I ran as fast as I could before hoping on the train with Beatrice right behind me. "Sorry," I mumbled as we plopped down next to a girl. The girl looked at us, "You made it! I'm Christina."

"Theresa and this is my sister Beatrice."

"Is it just me or are they trying to kill us?" Christina asked out loud.

"Get ready," a woman spoke up after a minute of us being on the train. "Yeah!" A boy screamed as he landed on the roof.

"They're jumping!" Beatrice exclaimed causing my eyebrows to shoot up. "What," Christina spoke in pure shock.

"Good luck, Al." I heard someone say in the background.

"Together?" Christina asked while I looked at her. "Yeah!" I told her before looking to Beatrice. "One, two, three," and with that we jumped. We all muttered 'ow's' before bursting out into laughter.

"What the hell is this?" I chuckled as I looked over to Beatrice. She laughed at me with a bright smile. I won't lie, it's nice to see my sister smile. We were both happy about our decision. "I think we would do good-," I started to tell her, but was cut off when Christina elbowed me.

It was then that I noticed everyone was silent and I had eyes on me. He was blonde with pink lips and a stern glare. He stared and I stared back eventually getting lost in his blue-green orbs. Suddenly someone in the crowd coughed breaking the male from his trance.

"All right, up! I'm Eric. I'm one of your leaders. If you want to enter Dauntless, this is the way in. And if you don't have the guts to jump, then you don't in Dauntless." He spoke curtly. "Is there water at the bottom or something," a boy in the crowd asked. "I  guess you'll find out, or not." Eric spoke nonchalantly.

"We just jumped. They want us to jump again," Christina looked at me, but I kept my eyes on Eric.

"Someone's gotta go first. Who's it gonna be?"

There was a tense silence that passed through the crowd. I looked at Beatrice who only nodded. Suddenly, I grabbed her hand as I spoke out, "Us!"

Beatrice and I walked forward before looking down over the ledge. I looked back at Eric, who just gave an unreadable look. I turned back around and began taking off my jacket. "Yes, stiff. Take it off. Put it back on," a boy in the crowd mutter receiving a glare from Eric.

I stood on the ledge with Beatrice following in my lead. We stood there for a moment causing Eric to speak up.

"Today, Initiates."

I rolled my eyes before looking at Beatrice as we jumped together. Beatrice got off the net before me and began talking to a guy. She told him that my name was Tessa and her's was Tris. After he helped me down he looked at us and smiled.

"Welcome to Dauntless."
