Ruby Rose in Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins

Chapter 8

Once they got into the empty school, Fred turned to the others.

"Okay, gang, we can cover more ground if we split up and search for clues." Fred started. "Daphne, you come with me-"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Why do I have to go with you?" Daphne quickly intercepted

Shaggy, Scooby, and Ruby looked at eachother and shrugged.

"Yeah, who made you boss? Why can't we pick our own teams?" Velma added

"Well, Ii just thought-" Fred started

"You just wanted to go with the hottie." Velma stated

"I did not! And for the record, I don't even think she's that hot." Fred stated in quick response

"Oh, really?" Daphne started. "Well, just for the record-"

"Guys, can we, like, can we just get to it?" Shaggy asked. "Seriously, this school's scary enough during the day."

"Fine. How about we all just go together?" Fred asked

"Fine." Velma responded

"Works for me." Daphne added

"Touchy bunch, huh?" Shaggy asked to Ruby and Scooby

"Uh-huh."  Ruby and Scooby both responded in unison

When they walked past a door, the door opened and The Specter was in the room.

"Find out what they're up to, then get rid of them." The Specter said as he shut the door and the two ghosts flew in the direction the gang went

Meanwhile, the gang all walked past a coupe of statues with football uniforms and football trophy displays, Ezekial went into the statue on the right and Prudence went into the statue on the left. A slight whooshing noise could be heard , catching Ruby's attention as the eyes on the one Ezekial was in glowed and the head looked at Ruby.

"Hm?" Ruby said, looking at the statues but nothing seemed off

She then looked away but quickly looked back, expecting something to have happened. The moment she walked off, the eyes on the statues glowed and the statues were shortly surrounded by a green aura and they hopped off their stands. The statues were alive!

The gang then went up to the stage where The Specter had appeared during the pep rally. Velma then pulled out a black-light.

"Hope you don't mind. I took the liberty of burrowing this for our investigation." Velma said, talking about the black-light. "Would you hold this please, Ruby?"

"Sure." Ruby replied as she held the black-light directly over where The Specter was during the pep rally

What they saw was some white, powdery, substance. 

"Jinkies. look at this." Velma said

"What is it?" Fred asked

"I'm not sure." Velma answered. "But this is directly under where the spectral figure appeared and disappeared." she added as she pulled out microscope slides and scooped some of the substance onto the slide for analysis purposes

"Do you always carry slides with you?" Fred asked

"What good is a microscope without slides?" Velma responded as she pulled out a microscope and put the slide in it, trying to figure out what the powdery substance was

"Right." Fred responded

Velma then looked at Daphne and hushed her by going, "Shhh." and then looking back into the microscope
