-comes from the latin word castellum (which means small fortified place)
-fortresses that were built for security and defence ,there were tactible posts for military units and they protected royal families in times of war

Most people ,think the words castle and palace are interchangeable,but they're actually not,unlike the castle that serves protection palaces were built to showcase wealth,tho why don't they just combine them both??
