Y/n's pov

Breakfast was going on as normal, mostly. I sat next to Cory eating my oatmeal while we watched Eric try to win some girl over on the phone. I looked over to Cory, "Five dollars that she hangs up without another word." I said

"You're putting me in a very awkward position here, you know I don't have much faith in him but, I like a challenge." He said and put his hand out. I put mine out and shook it.

I raised my eyebrows, "You're playing a losing game." I told him

"Yeah. I know." He nodded and sighed

We both turned back to Eric who was still on the phone. "Look, I'm sorry I didn't call you back, Kristen, I forgot. Do you forgive me?" He grinned. Eric stood there for a few seconds before pulling the phone from his ear and frowning. "Apparently not." said Eric as he hung the phone up.

I smirked as I turned to Cory and held my hand out, a feeling of triumph surging through me. He snickered before pulling out a 5 dollar bill and putting it into my hands. "Thank you." I hummed

"Shut up." he said and looked back up at Eric, who was now sitting on the other side of me confused

"You know the big difference between guys and girls?" Eric asked

"What?" asked Cory

"Girls want commitment, guys want girls." Eric answered then dug into his cereal.

In the middle of drinking my chocolate milk I asked, "What's the matter with commitment?"

As I put the cup down, Eric stared at me with a look of disgust, "You are so 11." he scoffed then returned to his cereal.

I got back to my oatmeal and dad entered through the back door with a single rose in his hand. "Hey, where's your mom?" he asked

Eric looked up first, "She blew through here a minute ago looking for contracts or something. I don't know."

"Hey, dad, I'm pretty sure Mr. Feeny numbers those things." Cory said pointing at the bright red rose in dad's hands.

"Well, this was hanging on our side of the fence, so it's number is up." He replied

"I know I put those papers around here somewhere." Mom said as she rushed through the kitchen frantically with her briefcase in hand.

I stood up and took mine and Cory's plates from the table. He nodded thanking me and I took the bowls over to the sink. Cory picked up the cups and stood next to me at the sink. "Oh, you look very nice this morning." Dad said as he held the rose behind his back

"Oh, there they are! I need them for the closing on that brick spilt-level on al street." Mom walked over to the counter and stuck her papers inside the case.

"In fact, you look downright huggable."

"Hi, Hon." Dad leaned in closer, but mom had other plans and turned away. I felt bad, but this is kind of entertaining
