The beaches of Alola are always pleasant to visit, even when the sun that courts them is drowsy and slowly setting on the horizon.

Hilbert and N walk hand in hand, their bare feet sinking into the still-warm sand. The velvety sound of the waves lulled by the wind soothes their spirits: they engage in playful, dispassionate conversations that touch the humble subjects of everyday life, something neither of them imagined they would come to love this much.



They were united, in the past, by a heroic yet dreadful destiny. One that had put them against each other from the start of their journey. To see that destiny fulfilled was the only thing they once thought they had in common. And thus it had been scary meeting again, two years after they had clashed in that final battle, the Legendary Dragons faithfully at their sides.

They weren't bounded by their destiny anymore, yet still an attraction remained between them.

Scholars say the two Dragons were once a single magnificent creature; perhaps that is why, as carriers of their visions, Hilbert and N, too, longed to be together.

They knew their relationship would be different this time as no set destiny, no path to greatness, was forcing them to be a pair. They had no reason to chase the other for anymore.

None except for a pure - selfish? - desire to learn more about the other.

To see the world through their eyes.

To hear their voice call their name in all manners of ways except in anger or desperate distress. For the both of them, such a thought had been a source of joy just as much as it was the cause of a great uncertainty.

But all of that was in the past. And thankfully the past does not bother them anymore: it is as far away as the Wingulls that fly in the lazy afternoon sky. In the now, the two heroes - for that is still what they are at heart - are connected once more, tightly, sincerely. And all of the ties that bind them are something they chose to join of their own free will.



There is a photographer on the beach who advertises the city's photo club. He sees the couple walking and calls them over, offering to take a photograph of the moment in memory of their vacation. Hilbert laughs and hugs N's arms, striking a juvenile pose, and the older boy does the same, clinging to his lover on a pure whim.

The two boys smile and with the click of the camera shutter, their happiness, their bond, their love, are forever captured in a heartwarming photo.
