The crystalline drops of rain fall,
Beholding splinters of you and I,
And we watch as they fall and sink
Into the mud beneath our feet,
Burying memories of ours
Into oblivion's cracking soil.
I look at your joy-deprived face,
And sorrow overcomes mine.
Your soul is brimming with grief,
For nostalgia has crept
Under your skin and mine.

A sad smile lingers on my lips,
As I grab your calloused hand,
And pull you with me to run away
From this endlessly falling rain,
Silently hoping and pleading
For grief to bid you farewell.
Our feet plunge into a myriad
Of puddles lining our way,
And the falling drops of water
Tug on these clothes of ours,
To chain and seal us to the ground
But we shall not yet cease to run
From this endlessly falling rain.

Our lungs have become hoarse,
And weakness is crawling up our legs;
We're running out of breath,
But the sky has yet to run out of tears.
I look at you and you look at me;
Laughter tears through our bodies,
Reverberating louder than ever
Behind our hearts trembling walls.
We sink to the muddy ground,
Our hands still deeply entwined
And our laughter slowly fading
Beneath the whirring noise of rain.

I look into your obsidian eyes,
But grief still looks back at mine;
We have given in to the sky,
But still we laugh and smile
Amid the endlessly falling rain
With souls still mourning,
And hearts forever torn.
