"Is this the trigger?" Will asks, holding up a piece to some sort of ray. "No." Gwen replies. "That's the fusion device." She giggles. I roll my eyes and turn the page to my workbook that I was studying, trying to ignore the two love birds sitting on Will's bed. It was currently 7 in the afternoon, and Mom and Dad allowed Gwen to come over to help Will with a project. Apparently, Mr. Medulla assigned a project where you have to build a fusion ray blindfolded. Will, who joined the class over half way through the year, desperately needed help, so Gwen jumped at the opportunity. I didn't mind that Will was getting extra help. However, it was extremely hard to do your own homework when your brother and his obnoxious girlfriend were constantly flirting and laughing. "OK..." Will states, setting down the piece. "Is this..." He reaches forward, accidentally grabbing Gwen's phone. He feels around it, immediately becoming confused. "What is this?" He asks, holding the device out to Gwen. Gwen giggles softly. "That's my phone." She states. Will takes off the blindfold and laughs. As Will goes to set the phone down, it suddenly begins to vibrate. "Well." Gwen states, taking the phone from his hand with a smile. "Super strong and psychic." She giggles, answering the call. "Hello?" She answers. "Wait. Penny, I can't understand you when you all talk at once. Ok, better." She states. I roll my eyes again, trying to focus on my workbook. "What? Oh no!" Gwen states. "Ok, hold on. Let me call you back." She says, hanging up the call. "What's up?" Will asks as Gwen sets her phone down. "Problem with the Homecoming decorations. Penny forgot to order the fog machine, so I may have to build one myself." Gwen sighs. "Oh, poor you. You have it so hard." I mutter under my breath turning the page of my book again. Will shakes his head and sighs. "Ignore her. She's just upset she doesn't have a date for Homecoming." He tells Gwen. I shoot him a dirty glare, setting my book down in my lap. Ok, I'll admit it. I was a little irritated. But give me a break! I technically didn't have a date for Homecoming, which was tomorrow, mind you, and I have to pretend that my boyfriend is dating someone else and be ok with it! So, I feel like I'm entitled to have a bad day! Especially when my brother and his girlfriend were basically rubbing their love in my face. Gwen sighs and looks at Will with pleading eyes. "Do you think the committee can stop by for a bit?" She asks. "Uh, no." I state loudly, staring at the two of them, but Gwen chooses to ignore me. "Ohh, I don't know, because uh, our parents are out on a distress call and they won't be home till late and we're really not supposed to have anyone over." Will explains. 'Finally!' I think to myself. 'The first smart decision you've made all year!' "It's cool." Gwen shrugs it off. "I was just hoping we could spend a little more time together, but..." She begins to gather her things. "I guess I'll just see you at school?" She smiles at Will as she begins to walk away. "Goodnight, Will." Will glances over at me, almost begging me to let her stay. I slowly shake my head. "Mom and Dad will kill you!" I mouth to him. "Uh..." He says, looking at Gwen. "I-If it's.... Um.... If it's just a few people." Will states, causing Gwen to stop. "Super!" She states with a smile, pulling out her phone. I give Will an irritated look as he mouths, "Sorry," to me. I shake my head and stand from my bed. "If Mom and Dad catch you, I'm not taking the fall." I whisper harshly to him before walking downstairs.

"Larry, put the sofa down!" I yell, pointing at the two-ton rock monster that was currently lifting the living room couch above his head to show off. I look around the giant crowd of heroes, my eyes landing on my brother, who was trying to organize some of the chaos. I shake my head and try to force my way through the crowd. Everything happened so fast! One minute, a few people, Penny, her copies and some other people from the Homecoming committee, show up, the next, there's a full blown rave going on in the middle of my living room! "Chester, stop sticking your face in the punch!" I yell at a sandy haired kid who was dunking his head into the punch bowl, his skin turning to the same color as the liquid. "Look-y look-y." A familiar voice says behind me. I turn around, almost colliding into the chest of the last person I wanted to see. "Lash, Speed, what are you doing here?" I sigh, looking at the two bullies. "We heard there was a sick party going on..." Speed starts. "So we decided to come check it out." Lash finishes with a smirk. "Guys, please, I don't need any more trouble." I sigh desperately. Lash scoffs slightly. "Pfft. Since when do we cause trouble?" He asks with a smirk. I noticed Speed slowly looking me up and down, his smirk growing. "All though..." Speed says, taking a step forward. "We could certainly get into some trouble with you." He smirks. 'OK, no!' I think. I quickly raise my hand, shooting a beam of ice at Speed, freezing him to the wall. "Whoa! The hell?!" Lash shouts, looking at me. I glare at Lash, preparing to freeze him as well, but stop when I see smoke rising from his shoulder. He sniffs the air a few times, a confused look washing over his face. "Is something burning?" He asks. I nod my head, smiling smugly at him. "Sure is." I state, walking passed him. He watches me walk away before suddenly crying out, realizing his jacket was currently on fire. I giggle and look over to see an irritated Warren Peace glaring at the now panicking Lash. "Hey." I say, walking up to him. "Hey." He replies, looking down at me. "What are you doing here?" I ask him. "Apparently saving you from those creeps." He states irritably. I giggle softly. "I had it under control." I glance over at Speed, who was attempting to get out of his ice prison. "But, seriously, what are you doing here?" I ask again. "Everybody in the Hero class was invited to a party that Will was hosting." He explains. I sigh loudly and shake my head. "My idiotic brother decided it would be a good idea to let his girlfriend invite the Party Planning Committee over. Next thing I know, the entire hero class shows up." I state, looking around. "My parents are going to murder the both of us." Warren chuckles softly, looking around with me. "Hey." He states, looking back down at me. "Do you want to get out of here?" He asks. "What?" I look up at him. He nods his head towards the front door. I giggle and look at him. "And where would we go?" I ask him. He shrugs. "The Paper Lantern, or maybe the park." He says with a slight smile. I glance around the crowded room before grabbing his hand and leading him towards the door. "I don't care where we go, just as long as it's not here." I mutter. He chuckles softly and follows me outside. I smile and lace my fingers in his, watching the steam rising from our hands. He pulls me closer and plants a gentle kiss on my head. "You know..." I sigh softly. "I might not go to Homecoming tomorrow." I tell him. He glances down at me. "Why?" He asks. "Well, because you're going to be going with Layla, Will is going with Gwen, Zach is going with Magenta, and even Ethan found someone. What's the point of me going if I don't have a partner?" I ask him. "Well, we can always have a few dances together." He says. "Please." I scoff. "Layla is going to hog you all night just to make Will jealous. Trust me, I know her. We'll be lucky if we even get a chance to talk to each other. Besides, because of Will's little stunt, my parents will probably make me stay home anyways." He stares at me for a moment before sighing. "Come here." He states, leading me away from the street. "Wait, Warren..." I start as he drags me away. "Where are you taking me?" I ask. He doesn't respond. I roll my eyes and follow him as he leads me to the park. The sun had already set behind the horizon and was replaced with a half moon and a sky full of stars. Warren gently leads me over to the lake resting in the center of the park before turning to face me. I giggle softly. "Why did you bring me here?" I ask. "Just trust me." He smiles. He reaches into his jacket coat, pulling out his phone, which had a pair of headphones wrapped around it. He unties the headphones and gently hands me one earbud. I raise an eyebrow at him, slowly taking the earbud from his hand and placing it in my ear. He places the other earbud in his own ear and turns on his phone. "If I can't dance with you at Homecoming..." He starts, placing his phone in his pocket as it begins to play a slow, soft dance. "Then I'll dance with you now." He gently takes one of my hands, while placing his other hand on my waist. "W-Wait, Warren." I state, causing him to look down at me. "I-I don't know how to dance." I say softly. He smiles and pulls me closer, causing my other hand to go to his shoulder. "Just follow my lead." He whispers. He slowly begins to sway his body, and I follow his movement. I smile up at him as he gently places his forehead on mine. He smiles down at me. "Are you sure you haven't danced before?" He asks teasingly, making me giggle. "I mean, unless you count dorky dancing to pop music..." I state as he chuckles. "Now, that, I've gotta see." He states, making me laugh. We slowly spin around, smiling slightly at each other. As the song neared its end, Warren slowly leaned me down in a dip, wrapping his arm around me so I didn't fall. We hold the pose for a few seconds as the song slowly fades out, leaving us in silence. As he gently lifts me back up to a standing position, we slowly lean in until our lips connected in a passionate kiss. Once I was standing up straight again, I wrap my arms around his neck and deepen the kiss. He wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me closer so my body was pressed against his. We slowly pull away from the kiss, our foreheads gently pressed against each other. We were both panting softly, our eyes closed as we just sit there in a comfortable silence. My eyes snap open in surprise when I feel a soft vibration in the pocket of my pants. "Crap." I whisper, pulling out my phone to see a message from my Dad. "Is everything alright?" Warren asks, looking down at me. I click on the message and read it. 'Home. Now.' "I have to go." I sigh, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Hey." He states before I walked off. "See you tomorrow." He smiles, kissing me gently. I smile and kiss him back. "See you tomorrow." I whisper, running off towards my house.

"Your father and I fly to Europe for two hours and you throw a party!" Mom states sternly as she stares at Will. "And where were you during all this?" She asks, looking at me. I glance over at Will before looking down at my hands. "Nowhere..." I reply softly. Dad slowly walks forward, his arms folded. "Kids, I'm only going to ask you this..." "Dad, I swear, we didn't plan this." Will states, his tone hard to place. I glance over at him, a slight sadness hanging in his eyes. "Alright, that's good enough for me. Hm?" Dad states as he looks at Mom, who stares at him in disbelief. "Steve, I have half a mind to not let them go to homecoming." "That's fine." Will states, standing up from the couch he and I were sitting on. "I'm not going anyways." "Whoa whoa whoa whoa! Your mother said she has half a mind." Dad states, trying to stop Will from walking away. Will stops at the edge of the stairs, looking at our parents. I sigh softly as I walk up beside him. "Kids, you have to go to the homecoming dance. We all have to because we're introducing the world to the Stronghold four..." He pauses for him and Mom to strike a dramatic pose. "The greatest family of superheroes mankind has ever known." Both Will and I give them an unamused look, leaning against the stairwell. "Did something happen, you two?" Mom asks. I shake my head slightly. "I don't want to talk about it." Will says softly, walking up the stairs again. "Well, we're going to talk about it, because..." Dad stutters over his words a bit, looking down at Mom for help. "Because we promised Gwen we would go to the dance!" He shouts, looking at the two of us pleadingly. "And when a Stronghold makes a promise son, that promise is kept!" "I promise you, Dad, I'm not going." Will states softly before walking up the stairs. "I'll talk to him." I say softly to our parents, following after Will. "Hey, what happened?" I ask Will, closing the door to our room. "Gwen may have just ruined my friendship with Layla." Will sighs, picking up his phone from his desk. "I am going to call her and tell her to meet us at the Paper Lantern." "Us?" I ask curiously as he dials in a number. "Yes us! You ditched me at the party, so you owe me this." He states, going quiet as he holds the phone to his ear. "Hello, Layla? Pick up, Layla. Pick up, pick up, pick up." He sighs in defeat, wandering around the room. "Fine, don't pick up. It's me. I'm going to the Paper Lantern with Emily. If you get this message, meet us there." He hangs up with a sigh before grabbing my hand and dragging me out the door.

I take a sip out of my water glass as I watch Will, who was sitting across from me, tap his finger anxiously against the table, waiting for Layla to pick up her phone. "Layla... Layla just pick up. In case you didn't get my earlier messages, Emily and I are at the Paper Lantern and..." He sighs loudly as he hangs up and slips his phone into his pocket. "Message box is full." He says softly to me. I nod my head slightly, looking down at my water glass. "What are you doing here?" A familiar voice asks beside me. I glance up, surprised to see Warren staring at Will with a dish tray in hand. He then glances down at me and smiles slightly. "Hey." He says. "Hey." I smile back. "I'm uh, looking for Layla." Will says softly, answering Warren's previous question. "Do you know where she is?" He asks, looking up at Warren. "How should I know?" Warren asks with a puzzled expression. "You're taking her to homecoming." Will states. "Oh yeah, right." Warren rolls his eyes slightly, as if just remembering. "Well, you don't have to worry about me ruining your night." Will sighs. "And why's that?" Warren asks, moving closer. "Cause we're not going." Will states, pointing at me. "Hm." Warren hums, glancing down at me before sitting down next to me. "Well that sucks." He sighs, smiling slightly at Will. "Because we're only going to make you jealous." He states. "Huh?" Will looks at him with a confused expression. "Dude..." Warren chuckles slightly, shaking his head. "You're so stupid. She's totally into you." "Not after tonight." Will sighs. "I wouldn't be surprised if Layla or any of the other guys never want to talk to me again." "Yeah, you must have been a real jerk. Because no matter what I do, I can't get 'em to stop talking to me." Warren smiles slightly. "Thanks." Will chuckles. Warren shakes his head, gathering his things. "Oh, and another thing..." He states, causing Will to look up at him. "I'm kind of dating your sister." He smirks. I choke on my water as Will gives us both a look of shock. Warren smiles before turning and planting a kiss on my cheek. "So, see you at homecoming?" He asks softly. "Uh, yeah..." I respond, still kind of surprised. "Great." He throws his rag over his shoulder before walking away from our table. I smile slightly as I look at Will, who still had a stunned expression on his face. "When did this happen?" He asks, his tone hard to place. "8:00, the Paper Lantern." I wink at him, standing up from the booth.
