"Do you ever dream?"

"Dream of what?"

"Dream of what could've been?"

"All the time. "

I feel a certain longing
My heart wants a specific belonging
An empty shell craving for fulfilling
An innermost desire,
Even at the expense of sinning

To pursue you any further
Would cause friction and tether
Is it better to speak or to die
To know what it feels
On the other side

I wish this heart could be split into two
Equal halves in size and weight shared
Halves could then be instantly grew
And to love both with abandon and without care

To choose between one and another
Is simply too complicated to bother
But for now, I'll call you my brother
As you already have, a significant other
