"Ooh, (Y/N), look at this one!"

You turned around to see Travis looking at another stuffed animal prize, starry-eyed and grinning at the toy. The yellow lighting of the carnival highlighted his features, and somehow gave him an even more joyful expression. You couldn't help but smile yourself, that boy's happiness was infectious and you both knew it.

The toy in question was a brown stuffed monkey, about the size of a standard teddy bear, and it seemed to be the last one left. It was nothing special at first glance, just another prize of questionable quality at a pop-up fair, but you could tell how badly Travis wanted it. You couldn't say no to that face. You sighed, readying yourself for whatever rigged game you were about to put yourself through for the eighth time that evening. You looked down at the game stall as you got out your tickets.

"What do I gotta do for the monkey?" you asked the girl running your booth. Clearly annoyed, she rolled her eyes and gave a deadpan response:

"Shoot the most water at the target the fastest. Four tickets."

You looked down at your ticket bundle, then tugged off four and handed them to the girl. She walked off with them and went over to set up the game while Travis expressed his gratefulness to you.

"Oh my gosh, thank you, (Y/N), you're the best! Seriously, this is so cool, thank you so, so, much!" he said quickly, still smiling ear-to-ear.

"Of course, dude, no problem," you replied. The two of you looked over and saw the now even more annoyed employee waiting for you. So you each took your seats at a station with the little water gun, trying to aim it at the target.

"GO, GO, GO!"

The jubilant shouts of a prerecorded voice and the ringing of a bell meant you were off, so you and Travis started shooting water into your respective targets. Even though you were supposed to be focused on the game, you couldn't help but look over at him. You'd never seen him happier, his eyes were absolutely glowing and his smile didn't look like it could get any while. He even let out a little giggle. You unconsciously smiled as well, looking back to see Travis in the lead.

"Shit," you muttered under your breath, mostly joking, of course.

"WINNER! WINNER! WINNER!"

The prerecorded voice returned to announce Travis's victory, earning a "yes!" as somehow smiled even wider.

"Congrats," said the employee, taking down the monkey plushie and handing it to him. He gasped in excitement and gave us a hug.

As you two made your way to the next game booth, you asked him a question: "What're you gonna name it?"

"Hmm..." Travis trailed off, furrowing his brows in thought.  "What about... '(Y/N)'!"

"Pfft, that's so lame!" you laughed. Travis looked confused.

"What?" he asked. "No it's not! You're the one who got it for me! And it's your name!"

"Ugh, fine, if that's what you really want, Trav," you replied.

The rest of the night was just as magical, the two of you just acting like little kids at a carnival, spending tickets on dumb games, and money on overpriced food. By the end of it, Travis had a small army of stuffed animals (all named after his Animal Crossing villagers, of course) and you had even one yourself an a stuffed animal of your own.

But it was getting pretty late so you two decided to head back to your car, still cracking jokes and giggling the whole way back.

"Oh my god, are these all gonna fit in the car?" you joked, looking down at all your winnings.

"Uh... maybe?" he asked. You laughed, and he did the same. There was something about his laugh that made the world around him a little brighter. You weren't sure what it was, but it was amazing.

Having finally gotten back to your car, you opened the back door, where the two if you somehow fit all of your new stuffed animals in the car, then got in the front seats.

"Hey, (Y/N)?" Travis asked.

"Hm?" you hummed in response.

"What are you gonna name yours?"

"I was thinking about naming it 'Travis'."

He smiled as the two of you buckled your seatbelts and you turned on the car.

"That's a good one, (Y/N)."
