Nick = Sapnap
!!warnings: cussing, ghost stories!!
George pulls up at the hotel. He glances over at Nick who smiles and gives him the thumbs up, the camera he was holding recording. "Hello everyone!" George greets cheerfully, giving his usual smirk. On camera he acted like a flirty badass who couldn't be scared by anything, but off-camera he was really sweet and soft. "Welcome back to Soul Detectives! I'm your host George, and as always I'm joined by Nick."
Nick spins the camera around and waves before pointing it back at George. "Today we're at the Stanley Hotel. This is the most haunted hotel in America besides the Queen Mary. But are those just rumors, or are they facts? Today we're going to find out."
He gets out, shutting the door, and walking around to the trunk of their car and pulling out three bags, tossing one to Nick before getting the fourth and final bag. One held George's essentials, another Nick's, one held recording equipment and the final one held the 'hunting' equipment they needed: an Ouija board was the main thing, two EMF sensors, an infrared camera, some candles, sage, and a few other miscellaneous items.
He walks up the stairs and walks over to the lady at the front desk, smiling at her. "Hello sweetheart. We rented out room 217."
The front desk lady blushes, and nods. George holds out his phone to show her the verification, and then grabs the two room keys. Before they leave, she speaks up. "Um..be careful. The three ghosts in there seem to be acting up a bit more."
The shorter of the duo smirks up her and winks, "Thank you for the warning." He heads up the elevator, selecting the second floor. It dings and they begin to go up. "Now..wait, did she say three ghosts?" George frowns.
"That's weird. I could've sworn that there was only one." Nick frowns, and hands George the camera, pulling out his phone. He pulls up the website that they use to document the ghost stories and skims through the ones about room 217. "Nope. There's one head maid, and another maid ghost--not the same one, apparently, the smell is different."
"Huh. Well, I guess that the afterlife evolves constantly." George jokes, grinning.
Nick smiles and shakes his head, taking back the camera as the elevator doors open. They step out and walk down the hallway to the left, before realizing they were going the wrong way and hurried in the opposite direction. They opened the door, immediately getting a cold feeling washing over them. "Ohhh yeah. There's something in there." George comments, shivering slightly.
"Mhmm. Yeah, the temperature dropped, what, 15 degrees?"
"Yeah. And we're staying here for a week."
"A week?!" Nick says, astonished.
"Yeah. My bank account wasn't happy." George grimaces.
They walk in and put their bags on the bed. "I'll take the couch." Nick says, stopping the recording for the moment. "You took it last time."
George shrugs, and rummages through the bags and goes ahead and begins to put the bag with the supplies onto the desk. "Fine by me. It actually looks comfortable this time!" He laughs, smiling. "I'll go ahead and set everything up. We doing it at midnight again?"
"Yeah, we'll probably get something there." Nick suddenly tenses, feeling something looking at them curiously. He wasn't just the camera operator, but was also pretty sensitive to the spirit world and knew his shit.
"Feel anything?" George asks, noticing his friend's discomfort.
"Yeah, something is watching us."
"The spirits here are supposed to be friendly, unless someone summoned a demon before we got here." As he says this, he takes out the candles and places them at the edges of the desk, and the sage to the left side of the desk and the Ouija board in the center. He leaves the rest in the bag and shoves it under the desk.
"Mm. Yeah, but there's now a third ghost." Nick points out, and George nods, sighing.
Dream stifles a laugh. More ghost hunters? He was going to have some fun. Finally, some good fucking prank victims. Elizabeth looks over at him sharply, knowing his intentions. She was dressed in an old-timey maid outfit. "Not these people too." She says, glaring at him.
Dream shakes his head. He had yet to speak to any other ghosts in this fucking place. He didn't even want to be here. The hotel was like a magnet to the spirits who wanted to move on, and once you were stuck here, you could leave. He just wanted to let go and be free.
A few hours had passed, and it was nearing midnight. They were finishing up their Uber Eats, and had just chugged a 16 oz. espresso each, and it had just started to kick in. Ah, the things they'd do for their millions of subscribers.
George unboxes the Ouija Board once Nick nods, signaling that the camera was rolling. Dream hovered around it as they lit the candles the flame drawing him closer. He pinched it, dropping the room into darkness again. He didn't want to be trapped by anything else, even momentarily, so he kept putting it out as they tried to relight it.
George sighed. "Ok, ghosts, please let us light us. We'd like to have a good quality of video."
Dream frowns, feeling..odd. He..
He remembered a snippet of his past. It was him welcoming his subscribers to another solo ghost hunt.
But he also remembered the pain that ripped through him as it went horribly wrong.
More importantly, he felt like he knew these two. From a year or two ago.
Fuck, what the hell was going on? He felt himself becoming more and more attached to George, and feelings bubbling up inside of him. He didn't even notice the candle being lit. What did bring his attention back to the room was the Ouija board. They were spinning the planchette in circles, waiting for someone to guide it. He slowly moved it to yes.
"What is your name?"
D-R-E-A-M.
"D-dream?" Nick shakes it off, and continues. "Why are you here?"
M-A-G-N-E-T-I-C.
"What's magnetic?"
H-O-T-E-L.
"This place draws in spirits?"
YES.
"May I move my finger away for a moment so I may stop recording?"
YES.
Nick quickly does, ignoring George shooting him a look.
"Dream, a-are you our Dream?"
I-D-O-N-T. Dream hesitates, and then his mind becomes clearer and he moves the planchette again. YES.
"Why are you reappearing now? We called out to you so many times, I--"
Dream hisses in frustration, and the candle burns brighter, flaring in intensity. S-T-U-C-K-H-E-R-E. It spells out quickly. Elizabeth appears behind him. "Calm down before you hurt them." Dream's eyes fill with tears which he wipes quickly.
"Is there anyway to unbind you?"
I-H-O-P-E-S-O.
Nick chuckles, before frowning. "What the hell were you hunting anyways?"
W-E-N-D-G-O-R-U-M-O-R-S.
"They ended up true?"
YES.
Nick nods."Dream, we'll find a way to help you." Dream smiles, and lets the planchette move to GOODBYE.
He felt more peaceful now than he did in life.
