Chapter 17

(1 year later)
*Nick POV*
It's been a year since I proposed to Ellie and today is our wedding day. Before i get too caught up in the wedding I guess I should catch you all up on what has happened. Leroy turned 1 a few weeks ago. He can walk which is why we waited to do the wedding. We wanted him to be able to walk in it. He also said his first word not too long ago which was gampa. I know, most kids say mama or dada, but Leroy loves his grandpa. Ellie and I usually have Gibbs watch Leroy if we need to go somewhere so they bond a lot. As for the team, not much has changed. Director Vance was fired because someone found out that he was giving out my personal information to Lucia without my permission. We have a new director but no one really talks to him. I also contacted Lucia a few months ago to let her know that I do not want any contact with her then I changed my number so I knew that she couldn't contact me. Well, you are pretty much caught up.
"Nick are you ready yet" Gibbs calls out
"Yeah. I'm just trying to tie my bow tie" I reply
"Come down here" he says
I walk downstairs and Gibbs is waiting at the bottom.
"Where's Leroy" I ask
"McGee and Jimmy are strapping him into the car. We have to leave soon" he says
"Okay" I say
"Why did you even choose to wear a bow tie" he asks
"Because I didn't want to wear a tie" I say
Gibbs finishes tying it and we go outside. Gibbs and I get in my car with Ducky and Jimmy and McGee get in the other vehicle with Ellie's brothers.
"Wasn't Deeks suppose to be with us" Gibbs asks
"He told me he would meet us there. Apparently Ellie asked him to run an errand" I say
"Oh okay" Gibbs says
I start the car and pull out behind George who is driving the other vehicle. We arrive at the church and I pick Leo up out of his seat.
"Dada" he giggles
"Hey buddy. You look so handsome" I say
"Mama" he questions
"Mommy is getting ready. We will see her very soon." I say
Leo giggles again and then reaches for Gibbs. I pass him over and we all walk to the front of the church. We hang out there for a while until Ellie's dad shows up.
"Hey Nick. You ready" he asks
"As ready as I'll ever be sir" I say
"Come on Nick, sir is old fashioned. Call me Richard." He says
"Yes sir. I mean Richard. How's Ellie doing" I ask
"She's doing really well. She looks absolutely beautiful" he says
"Pa" we hear
We turn around and Leo runs over to him.
"There's the little trouble maker" he says
"You're positive you are okay with him calling you pa?" I ask
"Of course Nick. He sees Gibbs more often so it makes sense that he is grandpa. Anyways, Barbara isn't called Grandma. He calls her Mimi" he says
"Okay. Well you can take him with you since he's going to be walking down the aisle. And I'm sure Ellie wants to see him" I say
"Okay" He says
Richard walks off with Leo and then Deeks comes in.
"The rest of the guests should be arriving soon." He says
"Alright. I guess that means Ducky and Gibbs you should find your seats. And you guys better be standing in the correct order" I say
"Yes sir" John says
"John is watch it or I'll send Ellie after you" I say
"Okay" he says
After another thirty minutes the guests have arrived and the bridesmaids have walked down the aisle. Music starts playing again and Leroy is at the start of the aisle. I move some so he can see me and squat down. He comes running to me and I pick him up. I kiss his forehead then pass him over to Gibbs who is sitting in the front row. Music starts again and everyone stands. I look down the aisle and standing there is my beautiful bride linked arms with her dad. A few tears slip out as she gets closer. Once she gets to me, her dad kisses her forehead, hugs me, and then Ellie and I join hands.
"You look beautiful" I whisper
"Thanks. You look pretty handsome yourself" she whispers back
The pastor starts the ceremony and then it comes time for the vows.
"Nick, I went through so much loss and betrayal with love and never thought it was possible for me to love anymore. That was until I realized I loved you and hid myself from it with my walls. We went undercover as boyfriend and girlfriend, but I know we both weren't acting. You were and always will be my Luis and I will always be your Charlie. You showed me that it was okay to let my walls down and let other people in. You revealed a side of me that I never knew. You are such a great man and we will be extremely lucky if Leo grows up to be as caring and respectful as you. I love you Nicholas Torres." She says
I wipe away her tears and we both laugh some.
"Eleanor Raye Bishop, you are the love of my life. As soon as I saw you in New Orleans I was captivated by your determination and your beautiful eyes. I then found out about you and Jake and pushed my feelings aside. And then when you started dating Qasim I pushed my feelings away again. I never knew why until I took a step back from reality. It was because I cared about you and wanted the best for you. I didn't want you to be hurt even if that meant I would be hurt. You will always be put first in my life along with Leo. He might not be my biological son, but he is still my son. You and I will always be partners in the field and at home. Together we will face the world and get through it. I love you Charlie" I say
The ceremony finishes and Ellie and I seal our marriage with a deep and passionate kiss. Leo then comes running over to us so I pick him up and Ellie and I each kiss one of his cheeks. He laughs and gives each of us a kiss. The three of us walk down the aisle and the wedding party follows us. We get outside and we all go over to this open piece of grass. I set Leo down and let him explore some. Ellie's brothers then come over to us.
"We're so proud of you Els" George says
"Welcome to the family officially" robert says
"Thanks" I say
"Thand you George. Do you guys mind taking Leo to the reception" Ellie asks
"Not at all" John says
"Great. You can take Nicks car. So give him your keys" Ellie says
George hands me his keys and then the three of them go over to Leo. I grab Ellie's hand and we go over to our co-workers.
"Congratulations Ellie and Nick" Jack says
"Thanks Jack." I say
"Yeah. You're the real reason why we're together. You were like a relationship counselor for us" Ellie says
"Guys we should probably leave for the reception soon" McGee says
"We have time Tim. We want the guests to get there first. Where's Gibbs and Ducky" Ellie asks
"They already left with your parents." Casey says
"Where's Deeks and Kensi" I ask
"They are inside I believe" Jimmy says
Ellie and I go inside and we find the two of them talking.
"You two okay" Ellie asks
"Yeah. We're fine."Deeks says
"You sure." Ellie asks
"Yeah. I just wasn't feeling well" Kensi says
"Are you" Ellie asks
Kensi nods. I look at them confused for a bit, but then I understand.
"Congrats. How far along are you" I ask
"Only five weeks" Kensi answers
"That's awesome." Ellie smiles
"Yo you four it's time to head out. Let's go" Casey says
"We're coming Casey. You guys head out and take George's van. We're riding with Deeks and Kensi" Ellie says
I toss the keys to Casey and she catches them. She then walks out. Once we hear the cars leave the four of us walk out and go to Deeks's car.
"Oh yeah before we go to the reception I have something to give you Nick" Ellie says
"I didn't get you anything" I say
"Yeah you did" she says
"What" I ask confused
She hands me a box and I open it. Inside is a yellow pacifier.
"You're pregnant" I ask
"Yeah. That's what I had Deeks go and get for me. I wanted a different way to tell you" she smiles
"This is amazing. Wait, how long have you know for and how haven't I known" I ask
"I've known for three weeks and you never knew because I was good at keeping it a secret. I'm eight weeks along." Ellie says
"Our babies could be best friends" Kensi says
"They could date too" Deeks says
"Woah hold it, don't go that far into the future yet" I say
"Fine" Deeks sighs
He starts the car and we drive to where the reception is. We get there and the team and Ellie's family are all waiting outside for us.
"There you all are. What took so long" Gibbs asks
"We were having a conversation" I say
"Dada" Leroy says
I take him from George and he lays his head on my shoulder.
"Someone's sleepy" I say
"No" he mumbles
"Okay" I say
I rub his back some and he falls asleep quickly. Ellie then hands me the headphones and I skip them on him so he doesn't wake up to all the noise. Someone starts introducing people from our wedding party and they walk in.
"Now introducing the couple of the hour Mr. and Mrs. Nick Torres with little Leroy Qasim." They say
The three of us walk in and everyone is clapping. Barbara carefully takes Leo from me and then Ellie and I start dancing.
"I love you Luis." She mumbles
"I love you too Charlie" I whisper
"You know what we forgot when we were discussing us dating" she asks
"Rule 18" I say
"Yeah. Better to seek forgiveness then permission" she says
"Oh well. We're together aren't we" I ask
"Yeah. Until death do us part" she whispers
"Until death do us part" I whisper back
We finish dancing and we share a kiss. We go over to a table and sit down. After talking and eating Ellie dances with her dad. And then Jack goes to the front.
"Hi everyone, you all might not know me but I'm Jacqueline sloane, Jack for short. I work with Ellie and Nick. Nick's biological family is not here but I know all of us here are his real family. So, for the mother son dance I'd figured I'd do it if that's okay with you Nick" she says
"I'd be honored" I say
I go over to her and we start dancing.
"Thank you Jack. This means a lot" I say
"Of course. Now I better also get a kid named after me" she says
"How did you know" I ask
"I could just tell. Also Ellie told me. Don't worry, I didn't tell anyone else" she says
"Okay. I'll see if I can put in a good word for you" I say
"Good" she says
We finish dancing and I go back over to Ellie.
"When are we telling your family and Gibbs about baby #2" I ask
"We'll tell them tonight after the reception. We still have to decide who's watching Leo while we're on the honeymoon" she says
"Do we have to go on a honeymoon" I ask
"Weren't you the one begging to go on a honeymoon" she asks
"I change my mind. I just want to spend time with our son. Let's do a staycation for our honeymoon. Stay home, spend time with Leo, and if we want a night to ourselves Gibbs can watch him" I say
"Okay" she says
"Lovebirds pay attention" we hear Casey say
We look to the front and our whole wedding party is up there.
"Um why are all of you up there" Ellie asks
"You guys never chose a best man or maid of honor so we decided for you. All of us" Deeks says
"Yeah no. That's not gonna happening. George is my best man and sorry ladies but Kensi you are the maid of honor" I say
"Why are you choosing my maid of honor" Ellie asks
"Because I know who you'd pick" I say
"Alright everyone you heard them if you are not George or Kensi sit down" Gibbs says
Everyone sits down and then Kensi starts talking.
"Deeks and I met Ellie and Nick about two years ago. It was when they first started dating and they were trying to convince the director to let them work together and date. I could tell right away how much Nick loved her because he was willing to give up his job just so that she would have one and that they could stay together. The love the two of them have for each other is so strong and would take a lot to break. Here is to Nick and Ellie who defeated the odds held against them and for a strong relationship" Kensi says
George then takes the mic, "well, I could tell stories of Ellie and when she was younger because there's a lot of them, but I'm not going to do that. Three years ago I met Nick with my two other brothers and we questioned him about Ellie. He told us that she wasn't her type. I never believed him because I could tell he liked her but I dropped it. A year later he ended up in Oklahoma and asking me about and my brothers about Ellie. I could tell that he was finally realizing how he felt and how he could no longer put others feelings before his own. Nick might not have grown up with a family, but he got a lot of experience. He saw what people liked and what people didn't. He grew up to be chivalrous, caring, courageous, and brave. I could not be happier with who my little sister fell in love with and married. Welcome to the family Nick and continue to make my sister happy" George says
Everyone claps and Ellie and I kiss. The party goes on for a bit longer then people start to head out. Ellie and I head home with Ellie's parents, brothers, and Gibbs with us. When we arrive I put Leo to bed then go back downstairs. I join everyone in the living room sitting down next to Ellie on the love seat.
"So who's watching Leo during the honeymoon" Barbara asks
"Well, we actually decided not to go on a honeymoon. We'd rather spend time with Leo since we don't get to do a lot of that due to work" Ellie says
"Oh" Barbara says
"Yeah. But we do have some news" I say
"What" Gibbs asks
"I'm pregnant" Ellie says
Everyone starts cheering. We all hang out for a bit more then they head out. Ellie and I lock up then go upstairs. We get ready for bed then climb under the covers.
"Good night Mrs. Torres" I whisper
"Goodnight Mr. Torres" she whispers back
We curl into each other and drift off to sleep ready for the adventures that lay ahead.
