I sit at the bench eating my lunch -my mom packed a large bento because she knows I have a huge appetite-  waiting for my mentor, the leader of the Leaf Police force, Kiba Inuzuka.
He appears coming down the street, "Hey Kiba sensei!" I call to him.
"Hey squirt," he calls back. I cross my arms, annoyed.
"I'm thirteen years old now," I tell him grumpily as he comes and sits down next to me. "I'm too old to be called squirt."
"Ha but you always will be a squirt," he says ruffling my hair. "Hey kid, I never asked how your time at the Academy was. Who were the trouble makers and who were the nerds?"
"Sarada was definitely on the nerdy side," I chuckle looking back. "And Denki, there's no denying that he was a nerd."
Kiba sensei laughs.  "No surprise there, Sasuke and Sakura were both at the top of the class. Now, who were the trouble makers."
"Boruto, Iwabe and Shikadai," I list. "'Cept they all were high achievers, Iwabe was only bad at the written stuff, the non-shinobi based curriculum."
"I realise I've been replaced," Kiba chuckles.
"What d'ya mean?" I ask curiously.
"Well Boruto is Naruto's son, Naruto was literally the worst student to come out of the academy, bad grades all year round, Shikadai is Shikamaru's son, he used to sleep through the lessons but still managed to get good grades, as embarrassing as it is to admit, I was a bad kid alongside them, since I don't have any kids, it seems they teamed up with Iwabe to be the new troublesome trio."
"Ha," I exclaim. "Well actually, Boruto was an A star student, he never got bad grades."
"Must have been Hinata's influence," he chuckles.
"So three of the most powerful men in the village, were school trouble makers?"
"Well yeah," he nods.
"I always knew I wasn't on the same level as Boruto and Shikadai, but I even have to watch out for Iwabe?" I think aloud.
"I'm sure that Iwabe kid has nothing on you, Wasabi," Kiba comforts.
"Oh I know," I say proudly. "I can beat Iwabe in a fight no problem."
"Ah your talking about me," says a voice from behind me.
I turn around to see Iwabe smirking. "Yeah, I was just telling Kiba sensei that I can kick the Repeaters butt with one hand tied behind my back."
"I'd like to see you try," he retorts readying his Jo.
"What you gonna do, try and hit me with your oversized hammer?" I ask smirking.
"Kids, try not to cause a fight in the middle of the street," Kiba says standing up.
"Sorry sensei," I say turning to him and bowing slightly.
Kiba nods, acknowledging my repentance then turns to Iwabe, "So you're Iwabe?"
He nods with a glimpse of fear in his eyes.
"Why are you here?" he asks.
"Udon sensei told me that me and Wasabi were being summoned to the Hokage's office," he explains, I can tell from his expression he was struggling to stay calm whilst talking to one of the heroes of the Great Ninja War.
"Why didn't you say something sooner?!" I yell. "Sorry Kiba sensei, our meet up will have to be cut short."
"See ya soon kid," he nods. "Stay out of trouble."
"Will try," I chuckle. "C'mon Repeater, we're late enough already."
I head towards the hokage's office and Iwabe trails behind.
"Is your hammer slowing you down Repeater?" I call back to him as I start walking backwards.
"Not in the slightest," he shrugs. "It's just a mission briefing."
"Exactly!"  I exclaim. "What if it's an urgent mission?"
"It'll be a D-rank as usual," he grumbles. "Most probably a lost cat."
"You got an issue with cats?" I ask pausing putting my hands on my hips.
He looks at me with a hint of fear, "No, just wondering why they keep getting lost."
"Kittens get lost," I say matter of factly. "Cats walk off and it's the humans who lose them."
"Whatever you say Neko-chan," he shrugs.
I roll my eyes.

"So what's your relationship with the chief of police?" he asks after a few minutes of silence.
"He was my sensei before and during my time at the academy," I reply. "My parents weren't Shinobi, but I had my aspirations, so when they realised my jutsus were related to cats, they requested a member of the Inuzuka clan to train my animal-related Jutsu."
"Oh," he murmurs.
We turn the corner and then we are at the Hokage's office.
When we enter we see Hanabi sensei, Udon sensei and the Hokage.
"You took your sweet time," Hanabi sensei says impatiently.
"Sorry sensei," I say lowering my head remorsefully. "I was having lunch with Kiba Sensei."
"How is Kiba?" asks the Hokage.
"He seemed ok when I spoke with him," I report. "Though it was a brief encounter since it was cut short."
"That's good," he nods. "Back to business, there's a B-rank mission for the two of you."
"What?!"
