A yawn escaped your lips as you opened your eyes. 11:27 a.m. Your alarm on your nightstand read. Burying your face into your pillow one last time you stretched your limbs and stood up, making your way to the shower.
After the hot water and soaps washed over your body you quickly finished your facial routine and went over to your closet to pick an outfit.

A tour of the bakery and running errands. You remembered.

Not wanting to feel uncomfortable the whole day your eyes set themselves on a dark pair of jeans and a simple color matching turtleneck. That is when your brain reminded you of the previous night and the cold air and you picked a thick cardigan just to be safe.

By now it was already twelve and you still had an empty stomach, walking in your kitchen you took out the necessary ingredients to make a few pancakes to act as breakfast. Once done, you placed them on a plate for them to cool down and made yourself some coffee then brought your breakfast into the living room, turning the tv on to give you somewhat of a company as you started filling your stomach.

12:47 p.m.

'Getting in the car, I'll be over in 15.'

Smiling at your brother's text you left the couch and put the plate and mug in the dishwasher.
Walking back to your room, you applied a bit of mascara and concealer and let your hair down, the slight waves not looking so bad as they were. The doorbell rang as you walked out of your room and
you made your way there, opening the door and facing your brother for the first time in a few years, his smile mimicking the one currently on your face.

'Luna! You grew up so well!' You felt a pair of arms hugging you and spinning you around as a light chuckle escaped your mouth.
'I didn't know you missed me that much Thatch' You said as he finally put you down.
'The videocalls aren't the same as having you here, you turned into quite the woman huh?' He replied raising a brow, still smiling.
'I guess you could say that.' You replied with a slight smirk.
'Do you plan on standing in my doorway the whole day? Are you getting in or should we leave right now?' You asked.
'We'll have all the time in the world to catch up once we're at the bakery, let's go!' Thatch replied enthusiastically.

Following your older sibling into his car, you couldn't help but notice the few hoodies and shirts laying in the backseat. You smirked, knowing for a fact this wasn't the work of your brother.
'Having trouble with the kids eh?' You joked, pointing at the slight mess with your head.

Thatch sighed as he took notice of said mess, shaking his head in disbelief. 'That's one of the biggest downside of having the brothers I do, that and the noisy house which was why I had to hang up last night.'
A soft laugh came past your lips, you of course were aware of Thatch's brothers, you knew they weren't biologically related but he told you it felt nice having people to call his family, so you couldn't help but be just as happy that your brother found a place to belong to.
'I could use some of that entertainment to be honest, it can get too silent too fast here.' You said.
With a muffled laugh Thatch replied 'I'm sure that won't be a problem for too long.'

The car ride was nice, the radio made for a background sound for you and your brother's conversations and you made sure to remember which way to go so you wouldn't get lost. Though you could also write the bakery's address in your car's GPS anyways.
Around 10 minutes later you finally pulled up in the parking lot. Getting out of the car you followed your brother and stepped in what he previously referred to as his 'Baby'.
'Wow, I thought this was purely a bakery, I didn't know you also made it into a coffee shop.' You said looking around.
'Yeah, I noticed it was way bigger than what necessary so I asked a friend to design the interior so it'd look like a coffee shop merged into a bakery, and he did.' Thatch replied grinning.
'Make sure to tell him he did an incredible job, this is absolutely stunning.' You said, pride in your voice as you realized this was your brother's dream that he made come alive.
'Come on let me show you around!'

For the next hour and a half, you followed Thatch around, making sure to remember where every ingredient is stored, how the ovens worked and all the things you figured would be important to know in order to be efficient tomorrow. After the tour, you both sat down at a table and Thatch brought two hot chocolates with a box of macarons.
'So, catching up time, tell me everything I missed.' He said, sitting down in front of you.

And so you did, you told him about the last city you lived in, the degree you got, the friends you made and the ones you wish you hadn't, the trips you went on, everything you could think of, you told him in detail. Except one thing.

'You expect me to believe you stayed single this whole time?'

Shit. You froze.

'What's his name and do I need to beat him up,' Thatch said, not joking this time.

The thing is, with you being his only biological relative, he wanted to make sure you wouldn't get hurt or played in any way. He couldn't afford to let anything bad happen to you.
But you were still a teenager then, finishing high school then going to college, of course you had a few encounters, you did bring interested looks quite often after all. But you never really got into a serious relationship until he came along. And of course the one time you did, it had to end up that way.

'You don't need to do anything.' You sighed, caving in. You couldn't lie to your brother for too long anyways. 'I dated him until last year, I took care of the situation then, nothing's bothering me anymore.' You said, the last part not sounding credible enough to your liking.
'I'm glad you did, I figured I can't keep terrorizing everyone who comes near you anyways. You're an adult now, I'm just happy to know you're okay.'

How unexpected. You raised an eyebrow.

Dropping the topic, you both finished your drinks and walked out of the bakery to make your way back to the car.
'I need to run a few errands is that okay?' He asked.
'Sure, I actually need to fill my fridge and cupboards too.' You replied.
With a nod, he turned the radio volume up and started driving towards the store. The both of you singing and laughing together, happy about each other's presence.
