the fact that listening to nirvana prompted me to start listening to pre-civil rights movement blues and folk music is something i will never understand
i listened to the cover (the song above) and saw that the song was credited to "lead belly" so i assumed it was some cool ass rock band that sounded like the band brand new (listen to brand new) but it was actually a really old blues musician
that's pretty cool
i like the nirvana cover a little better just because it's longer and little more rock inspired but the original artist's voice suited it better because yknow the vibes
i feel lame for talking about this but it's something i find interesting and this is my diary so i'm allowed to be uncool
so anyway
lead belly was fucking crazy (he was like super violent) and i vibe with him heavy because i also like pine trees, civil right, and questionable women
