It was another Monday and my first time going to school riding the bus again. I spent most of my Sunday inside the room because I felt awkward that my Mom was starting to be a mother to us or to me, at least.
We even ate lunch and dinner together which made it more awkward. Although, she didn't cook dinner and made us do it. It was better than her continuous verbal and physical abuse to me and Kai.
I don't think I could get used to this kind of set-up because it felt weird having her at home all the time. We already became independent and used to not having her around. But of course, she still left my allowance on my desk, like the usual.
Cali and Franco had been constantly checking up on me ever since I returned home and all I did during our lunch break was answer their questions.
"Did she do anything to you?" Franco asks with his arms crossed to his chest.
"No, I told you. She already apologized, okay? Trust her a little," I answered.
"How can you trust her again, after what happened?" Cali asked. She had her eyebrows furrowed as she ate her kale salad.
"I keep telling you, she's my mom. Maybe she has a soft spot after all," I say with a shrug while I sipped on my green tea smoothie.
Cali narrows her eyes at me and looked at me in disbelief, "I hate to say this but you're being way too nice to your mother. It's okay to be mad at her, Adeline," She ranted.
"But I'm not. Everyone can be forgiven," I dismissed.
"And that's not good for you. It should depend on the circumstances, Ady," Franco reprimands.
Although, she really did change. We still aren't fully on good terms with each other.
"Well, I'm just going to segue into a different topic. Franco went to the club last Friday and didn't bring us with him!" Cali rolls her eyes at Franco in which he responded with a chuckle
"A friend invited me! Plus if I were to invite you, I know Ady won't come because she's busy. It won't be good if it's only the two of us," Franco explained as he winked at Cali.
"Gross, Franco. I swing both ways but not your way, babe," She jokingly blows a kiss towards Franco which he catches. I sometimes wonder if these two are just pretending or what.
"Okay, hold up, did Venice just looked over here or am I just imagining this?" Cali asks in confusion and looked at our table. Franco clears his throat and avoided Cali's gaze.
"Are you not telling something, Franco?" I asked.
"Okay, now definitely, I'm not hooking up with you. Not that I plan to," Cali says
"Okay, it just happened twice!" He tried to defend himself, raising both of his hands as a sign of defeat.
