After changing into decent clothing—Chaeyoung having to borrow one of Sorn's dresses that Lisa took without asking—they were summoned to the dinner table where they now sat nervously fidgeting under the extremely friendly gazes of Lisa's parents.

"So, Chaeyoung," Mrs. Manoban starts, "how did you and Lisa meet?"

Lisa rolls her eyes but continues to keep her head low, fidgeting with her napkin as she eats some rice.

"We have physics together. She's my lab partner."

"I've known about Chaeyoung since freshman year, though." Lisa says mindlessly.

"Oh?" Mrs. Manoban raises her eyebrows.

Lisa moves around a piece of broccoli on her plate and keeps her gaze fixed on it. "I mean, everyone knew who she was. The smartest and prettiest girl in the whole school."

Chaeyoung scoffs. "I was not."

Lisa looks at her skeptically. "Remember Dara?"

"No?"

"She was a senior when we were freshman. She told me that a bunch of the senior girls hated you because all the guys wanted you."

"Please." Chaeyoung mutters, her cheeks burning. "That's not true."

Lisa shrugs. "Believe what you want."

Mr. and Mrs. Manoban keep their eyes on the exchange with warm smiles on their faces, so happy to see Lisa being playful and sweet to a girl that reciprocated whatever feelings they may have for each other. Bambam and Sorn roll their eyes, rightfully disgusted by their sister's flirting.

They eat in comfortable silence for another few minutes. Mrs. Manoban would ask the occasional question and that would lead to other topics. Chaeyoung became less and less nervous with every second, immediately charmed by each and every Manoban family member.

Then the metaphorical shit hit the metaphorical fan.

"So how did you guys become fuck buddies?" Bambam asks suddenly after being silent the entire dinner. He almost made it, he really did.

"Bambam!" Mrs. Manoban says in horror.

Lisa almost spits water across the table at Sorn who looks more than pleased at the current exchange.

"You told him?"

Mrs. Manoban doesn't even look apologetic. "It's a big deal, honey."

Lisa slams her elbows on the table and slumps her head into her hands. Chaeyoung's face couldn't possibly get more red than it is at that very moment. It's a disconcerting feeling to physically not be able to look anyone in the eye right then without feeling like bursting into flames.

"Can we please be excused?" Lisa asks meekly.

Her dad laughs from his belly. "Yes, we've tortured you enough."

They have never walked away from a table so fast in their lives.

"Keep the door open!" They hear Mrs. Manoban shout from the living room, which just produces snickers from the family—all of them obviously overjoyed by the fact that Lisa is happy and healthy and loved, even though they don't really know what's happening between the two girls.

Lisa closes her door anyway, just to spite them.

"I'm so sorry about them. They don't know how to interact with people. I've never had someone over for dinner like this."

Chaeyoung eyes her weirdly. "Not even Jennie?"

Lisa sits beside her on her bed.

"She's been here a few times but I prefer hanging out at her house because she has a nice TV, and also her grandmother is precious and loves me." Lisa says with a grin.
