"Again? Why so soon?" My mom asks as I exit my bedroom in full gear and I drop my duffel bag in the floor along with my backpack
"I dunno. My sergeant just called me thirty minutes ago. He said we're shipping out at eight." I say as I notice Travis is under the sink trying to fix it
"I'm gonna go say bye to Alicia." I add
"Hurry her along, please, Addy." My mom replies as I make my way down the hall
"Alicia, I'm shipping out." I say as I knock on the door
She opens the door revealing herself as she's now dressed and ready for the day
"Where to?" She asks as she leans against the door frame
"Somewhere near the border is all I know." I state
"For how long?" She asks
"Not sure. I just know it's urgent." I state
"I gotta go though. I'll see ya soon." I say with a small smile before I pull her in for a quick hug
"Alright, mom, Travis, I gotta run." I say with a small smile as I toss my backpack on my back
"I love you, honey." My mom says with a warm smile as she pulls me into her embrace
"Tell Chris I'll see him soon." I say as my mom releases me and Travis pulls me in for a quick
"Of course, Addy." Travis replies as I pick up my duffel bag
"Love you, guys." I say before walking out of the house
-4 Days Later-
My unit and I all just got our cellphones back a few minutes ago and I had a voicemail from my mom saying they had found my brother
I quickly dial my moms number before bringing the phone up to my ear only for it to go to voicemail so I call her again but it goes to voicemail again
"Mom, I can't say what but something bad is coming. Get Nick, Alicia, Travis, Chris, and yourself in the house and lock yourself in." I say before hanging up

"Addy." Luci calls pulling me out of my thoughts
"What's up?" I ask
"Trajimos a un chico nuevo. Su pierna está en mal estado." Luci states before nodding her head for me to follow her to the infirmary
(We brought in a new guy. His leg is in rough shape.)
Luci opens the door to the infirmary and I follow her inside
I close the door behind me before my eyes fall on a familiar figure sitting on a cot
"Nick?" I ask as my voice cracks causing his head to shoot up and his eyes lock with mine before he stands up from the cot and I hurry over to him before pulling him into my embrace
"¿Lo conoces?" Luci asks from behind me

"Si. Luci, este es mi hermano Nick. Nick, this is Luci." I reply as I release Nick
(Yes. Luci, this is my brother Nick.)
"Lay down. Let me take a look at your leg." I say before I walk over to the cabinet and grab a pair of gloves, gauges, antibiotic ointment, and alcohol
"Where's everyone else?" I ask as I walk back over to him as he lays down on the cot
"We got separated." Nick says simply
"You got separated or you ran away?" I ask with a serious look as I put the gloves on
"Both?" Nick says but it comes out as more of a question as he smirks up at me before I cut off his pant leg up to his knee
"This is gonna hurt." I say before I pour alcohol on his bite before dabbing it dry with a gauge
I put some antibiotic ointment on a new gauge before placing it on his bite before I wrap medical tape around it to keep it in place
"Dog bite, I hope. Right?" I ask and Nick nods his head 'yes' in response as I pull my gloves off before tossing them in the trash
"Come on." I say with a small smile as I open the big white double doors leading out into our large walled off community
"Hungry?" I ask as I walk over to one of our food vendors
"Yeah." Nick replies as the vendor passes me a taco
"Here." I say as I hand it to him along with a bottle of water
