[Fon the Boy]
Today we go back to Bangkok.
"Thank you so much for letting me stay, Khun Mae (mom), Khun Por (dad)." She said as she bid farewell to my parents.
"Come back next time, Sun-nee!" Mom said.
"I'll save mangoes for you the next harvest." Dad said to her.
"P' Fon, please don't wait for next year before you come back here." Said Nong Jai.
"I'll try to come home often." I answered.
Then Nong Jai went to Sunny and whispered something. Sunny looked confused after that.
Som was crying the whole time and doesn't let go. Before she was crying because of me but now she's crying because Sunny's going to leave. As if Sunny is her sister.
"P' Moo! Don't go!" Som cried.
"If only I could, but I will come back. I promise!" She said to Som.
Mom held Som so she could not run to Sunny. Then we went on our way back to Bangkok.
"What did Nong Jai say to you?" I was curious.
"She said that you are not married yet so she will not give up that easily. Looks like she likes you so much! She will not stop until she has you for a husband. Hahaha." She said teasing me.
"I don't get it though, why does she have to tell me that." Sunny said with her confused face.
I just laughed at her.
The train ride of course took a whole day. We arrived at 6pm so we decided to have our dinner before we go home.
"Now nothing compares to Khun Mae's cooking." She said while we were eating.
"But you still manage to eat the whole thing." I teased her pointing out her empty plate.
I took a picture of her with her sulking face.
"Is that the camera your parents gave you?" She asked.
"The lens? Yeah, I wanted to try it." I answered.
"Khun Mae told me that you don't visit Chiang Mai often because you are busy with school and work, especially your photography." She said.
"Yeah, after finishing my masteral in film I want to focus on photography now."
"You love photography that much, huh." She said while she nibbled her food.
"I love it so much I made a printing studio in my apartment."
"What? Printing studio?" She looked confused.
"Most of my work are on films so I print my own picture." I explained.
"I want to see it!" She said with an excited face.
"My printing studio? But it's in my apartment."
"So?? We have so many pictures and I haven't seen one. I want to see the photos and also I want to see your work." She said.
"Okay then." I gave in.
After our dinner we went to my apartment.
"This is my place." I said as we entered the room. We took our shoes off before we entered.
"You have a nice place. It's clean to think that you are a boy." She teased.
"I am a clean freak."
She put down her bag and started to look around.
"Are these your work?" She asked as she skimmed through the framed photos hanging on the wall.
"Yeah, my favorite ones."
"They are amazing! Where are these taken?"
"Mostly here in Bangkok. Some on the days that I take tourists around." I said.
I picked a photo album and showed her some photos that I took.
"I have been in Bangkok for years now but this place doesn't fail to surprise me, especially when I took this tour guide job. Everyday I get to see Thailand in a different perspective and I fall inlove with the place and photography over and over again."
"It's your passion." She said a she gave me a smile.
"It is a part of me."
.
.
.
"Here is the dark room, this is where I develop my photos." I told her when I opened the room."It's red. Just like in the movie 'Shutter'."
"EH?!"
"You scared??" She teased me.
"I watched that and it gave me the creeps, it took me a whole week before I got back here." I said to her.
"Hahaha! I'm sorry! You're with me though, so nothing will happen." She said confidently.
I showed her how I print the photos and she was paying attentively the whole time. The procedure was fun though it takes a lot of time.
I caught her yawning.
"You sleepy? You can rest for a bit, I'll just finish these up." I told her.
She went out of the dark room and I went back to finishing a few films. I was so into it that I forgot the time.
"Moo?"
I saw her lying on the sofa. She fell asleep. I picked her up and put her on the bed because her body might be sore when she wakes up.
I put a blanket on her and looked at her face. Maybe she was tired the whole day, she did so much ever since we went to Chiang Mai.
She looks so peaceful. She just fell asleep that fast.
"You forgot that you are in a boy's home." I said to her though I know she would not hear it.
It's a dangerous place in where I am now...
I remembered the photos that I just developed. I have to keep myself busy so my thoughts will not just fly out of the window again.
I picked the photos and they were dry now. I looked at the them and I am so proud of myself that I did a good job.
I chose carefully.
I wrote something.
I put it in an envelope and slid it into Sunny's bag.
"She'll be suprised when she sees this."
