Amor Fati
love your fate

As soon as the bell rang, I excused myself from the table and made my way to the next class. It was art. I loved art. I loved to sketch. I loved the feel of my pencil leaving elegant lines and curves which unites to form a picture. I lose myself in the sensation.

I barely hear the bell ring. My work was not finished yet. I will complete it the next time. I packed my supplies and left the class. The rest of the day moved in a blur. I was completely lost in my own thoughts. My own thoughts were submerged in wide purple eyes. I just can't seem to get those eyes out of my head. There has to be something wrong. Nobody that young can have such eyes. Even my dad didnt have and he was one of the most mature and calm person I have known my entire life. I have never seen someone with purple eyes until now. There are other villages out there and very few people have purple eyes even among all the villages and none below the age of thirty. There was hierarchy among the villages too, based on how many people attained the visionary stage or the purple eyes. I was still in the scholarly stage which accounts for the vermillion eyes. My village was not at the top but it wasn't at the bottom of the food chain either. Now we will move up among the top villages. There were five villages in total at the top, with us joining them, it will be six.

I jump a little when I feel someone coming up behind me. I do a back flip, sweeping my hands under the feet of the person as I land in a crouch. The person turned out to be none other than Lerman who landed painfully on his butt. "What's up with u today?" He asked standing up and brushing his bruised bottom. "Well, you should have seen it coming when ur messing with me." I reply and turn around to walk out of the school. I was getting all jittery. I decide to put Zelda's matter to rest for now. I take my bike and ride it to my house. I can still smell the lingering pancakes scent from this morning. Our senses are heightened than humans too.

I make my way up the stairs and go to my room. The house was empty as my mom and dad both go to work. They wont be back till 4:00 in the evening. My school gets over at two in the afternoon because it starts getting dark here after five in the evening. I had a whole two hours all to myself. I loved my me time. I plop myself down on the bed and turned the music on high. Before long I drifted off into a deep sleep.Even my dreams were filled with wild purple eyes beckoning me to come to them.

I woke up to complete darkness. I turned off the music player and switched on my bedside lamp. My bedroom was small and every nook and corner was covered with shelves full of books. It was not a mess though. I like my things in order. My pastel themed wallpapers enhanced its beauty. I can hear the soft murmurs of my parents voice drifting from downstairs. I get up and wash my face. It was all puffed up from sleep. I let out a small scream when I saw the time. It was half past five. I have been sleeping for five hours. I run out of the bathroom and sit down to do my homework. Luckily today there wasn't much. Aside from my behavioural crisis I was a very dedicated student.

After two hours, I make my way down to dinner. I sit down at at the table. "Finnius" my mom calls " You left the gas on. How many times do I....." She continues her ramble. My dad shoots me a wink and disappears into the kitchen. My nose tingles with the smell of some sort of vegetable which is probably getting charred.

I smile feeling right at home. This chaotic place right here was where I will always feel home. We weren't the perfect family having the perfect home, perfect everything. We are satisfied with what we have with us though. This is the haven of my happiness.

After I finish the meal, which consisted of rice and some extremely disfigured side dish which I didn't dare eat, I make my way up to my room. I tried to sleep but can't seem to do it. I toss and turn to find the right position. I remembered then that I slept for almost four hours in the evening so I won't be able to sleep at night. I have always been like this. I huff out my breath and wait for sleep to come knocking at my door.

Right then I heard some tapping noises on my window. Does the god of sleep really answer all the prayers then? How come he hasn't answered my call before? With these thoughts I get out of bed and over to the bed. Now I am not gonna lie that I wasn't feeling scared. The tapping continued on outside the window. I kept walking towards it, my heart filled with apprehension.
