Background:
Growing up the only child of a prolific politician wasn't always easy, he grew up fairly pampered but was often targeted by his father's political enemies for his rather brash aggressive behaviors. His father sat down with him and explained that a true man uses him anger and strength to protect people, not to beat them down, the lesson stuck with Mason as he grew up often stepping in to defend the little man until one day at lunch a Marine recruiter, who recognized him, asked if he ever thought about joining. He heard his fathers words "protect people" at that moment any other plan for after Highschool left his head as he started talking to the recruiter about joining, after school Mason drove to the recruiter's office and started the paperwork. His father asked what he had and recoiled when Mason replied that it was Enlistment forms, his father spent hours trying to talk his stubborn son out of joining only to resign and accept the fact. When Mason shipped to basic, the news covered it, "Senator King's Son enters the marine corps to buy his father's campaign good will" one of the headlines read but through all the criticism His Mother and Father remained supportive and openly talked about their pride in their son. 4 tours with the Marine Raiders later, Mason lost his leg while shielding a fallen comrade from an RPG blast, he was discharged medically before entering physical therapy, a year later he joined the Air Force and became a PJ. He's served with them since with the media always feigning for a glimpse of the senator's elusive hero son.
