My Masterpiece

I know this isn't a short story, it's actually a poem, but I dont usually write poems and didn't want to create a whole new book just for poems, so here. I wrote this while watching a video about discontinued Benchmade knives on YouTube. I dunno what in the video inspired this, but I enjoyed writing it, nonetheless : ) enjoy

Everyone loved it.
My Creation.
Everyone knew about it.
My Masterpiece.
But, not everyone knows me.
The man behind the art.
It was my design.
But no one knew me.

I would ask them what they thought of my creation.
They would go on and on about how lovely it was.
But I was the brains behind the beauty
The man behind the art.
But nobody knew me.

While my creation, my masterpiece lives on,
I faded away into the background.
Static.
Background noise.
Nothing.

She was everywhere
Spreading her wings,
Soaring above the masses,
Making herself known
While I stood behind and watched.
But no one knew the mere Creator
Spending his life to make something they loved
So he would be noticed

But the Creation is always more well known than the Creator.
Think about the Eiffel Tower
The Pyramids of Giza
Stonehenge
Or The Leaning Tower of Piza.
Their creators all lost to history much like me
But their creations still loved by many

Everyone Loved her
My Creation
Everyone knew about her
My Masterpiece
But the mere creator
Stood in the Background
Laughing
And turned his creation
Against them.
