Mara resides in the district of Lred, where Bloodmarks like her are hunted regularly. Forced to register for the seasonal cullings in Trichov, where Bloodmarks are assigned duties under the Royal Court of Vampyrs.
When she can no longer hide from the hunters and their raids, Mara must partake in the spring culling, where the King of Vampyrs assigns her as a servant of the Royal Court.
After struggling to adjust to her new life in Trichov, Mara finally makes friends and settles into the routine of a servant.
Until she trips before the King of Vampyrs, and in that single moment, she goes from lowly servant to Mark, the highest Bloodmark honor — by accident.
Now, Mara is the Vampyr King's lifelong mate. As such, she's thrust into another new life, one of unimaginable luxury and riches and free time — and danger.
Among attempts to befriend the seductive Feeders, to grasp the basics of archery, and to keep from falling completely head-over-heels for the King who accidentally Marked her, Mara finds herself at the heart of a noble vampyr rivalry.

I wanted to touch briefly upon a couple of things. First off, I edited this story as I posted it. Which means some chapters are second, third, etc. drafts, while others are first drafts. It also means even after a chapter has been posted, it could change because I've rewritten it. Lastly, this book contains many things: a slow-burn romance, empowering female friendships, some exploration in mental health, and much more. However, the focus of this book is Mara's character development. Which is slow. So if you're expecting a fast-paced novel of sword-fighting vampyrs and death-defying moments, dash aside those expectations. But I do hope you enjoy the journey regardless! (I know I've loved pretty much every moment of writing this book.)
