Burmese to English Translation Brief

Hsu Chi Ko's Nyi is one of a kind type of work for most young reader at Myanmar and very attractive as well. Original writing of hers was very naive yet simple to read and short to the point. Complete and heartwarming, a good love story too. Sometime reader can feel the emotions that she put there and all the characters has their own uniqueness, weakness and challenges on love skirmish but interestingly twist lead the reader not to quit reading, also overwhelmingly end with the unexpected story.

As a reader and translator of this work I feel the same emotions like Hsu Chi Ko. Proud to do so. There are a lot of pioneer writer in the subject of LGBTQIA+ and Boy-love yet among them I like Hsu Chi Ko not because of her writing but because of her characters building and story making. Most of her work are not pioneering but indeed successfully achieve the attention of most of the love story reader and she has her own fan for that. Surprisingly her characters has their own admirer and aficionado I must say. Her writing was not quite experienced but simple for all readers not too bold and hard to understand. That is quite challenges to translate because in secondary language reader among our country had difficulty on it. I had to make sure every last words and sentences to be more and more simple broken easily to read as well, sometime I had to break the rule of grammatically writing and use a lot of repeated words, avoid the unfamiliar words too. After all my translation was not bold as literary work, not so noobs as essay writing too. Make sure all the readers could easily to read and understand is my ultimate will.

I am Morisha, working at local private hospital as child psychiatrist. Former Editor of Reader Digest Asia and Myanmar Times. After a long time abroad to US I came back to my native country in order to resettle my own private life. As a humanitarian activist I believe that Myanmar is ready for a change on the road of Rainbow to shine yet a lot of challenges ahead. I volunteer myself at local rehabilitate center call TOP helping young LGBTQIA+ individual as best as I could. Generally I translate heavy book like Philosophical and Educational as open source individually, but I decided to translate Nyi after I read it because Nyi is the first ever in modern Myanmar one of a kind too. I hope that if Burmese edition Nyi could lead the community to rethink their PoV on sexual issue and may be hopefully secondary language might.

Nyi's contain a lot of PoV in the issue of sexual orientation and conservative of traditional thinking to change. More and more people has already out loudly spoken about it to quite a few time. I hope Hus Chi Ko's work could support those individual to rethink their PoV and standing. Personally I love this book still hoping for the next chapter to read but I know the story is finished yet expecting for it too. I hope you will be too after you read it...
