"Who was dat daddy?" Steve asked around his pacifier. "I have a mission Bubbas. I'm so sorry." Steve wanted to cry, so he did. "No. Y-you h-hafta tay hewe w-wit me." He bawled. Bucky felt his heart shatter into a million pieces. He picked Steve up and held him close. "I know baby. I know. I don't wanna go but I have to." Steve couldn't stop. "Daddyyy. Don't gooo." The blonde boy held on tight."Why don't we see if Natasha can come stay with you yeah?" Steve shook his head. "Why baby?" "Scawed." He whimpered. "Oh Bubba. She won't make fun of you. She'll love you, I promise." Bucky said softly hugging Steve as tight as he could without hurting him. "Kay." He agreed. The brunette kissed his baby's cheek and took out his phone to call Natasha. "Hey Nat. I need you to come down to Steve and I's floor. Yeah. Hurry. Bye." He put his phone in his back pocket. "Okay Bubbas. Nat's gonna be here in a few minutes." Steve hid his face in Bucky's shoulder. Then he realized. "I should probably put you in reasonable clothes huh?"
The boy nodded. Bucky hurriedly put Steve in sweatpants and one of his loose fitting t-shirts. He walked back out with Steve who had gotten his bunny and blanket for comfort.
Bucky sat Steve on the couch just as the elevator dinged signaling that Natasha arrived. "Hey Nat." "Hey Buck. What's up?" Bucky let out a breath. "Okay. I have to go on a mission and I need you to watch Stevie for me. He does age regression where his mindset ages down to a toddler cause of traumatic events and shit and I just need you to watch him for me. He's really sweet but he's shy." He said pretty fast. Natasha nodded. "Yeah. I can do it. Where's he at?" She asked. "Couch. I'm gonna go put my suit on. Be right back." And he was gone.
Natasha walked over to Steve and crouched down in front of him. "Hey Stevie." She said softly. "Hi." He whispered. She smiled. "You're so cute." He giggled at that. "Who's this?" She asked referring to his bunny. "Hops." "Hops? That's a great name for a bunny like her." He smiled feeling more comfortable. Bucky walked in and smiled. Steve looked up and reached for Bucky. Bucky picked him up off the couch and hugged him. "Don't go. Pease. Hops doesn't want you to go eiter." He muttered. "I know Bubba. I'm so sorry. You be good for Nat okay?" Steve nodded tears pricking his eyes. "I love you Stevie." He said kissing Steve's temple. "I uv you Daddy." Steve whimpered.
Bucky sat him down, hugged Natasha, and jogged out leaving the two alone. Steve put his face in his blanket and cried quietly. "Hey Stevie Bear. It's okay. He'll be back later okay?" Steve nodded and wiped his eyes roughly with his blanket.
"Wanna watch a movie?" Steve nodded shyly. "How about Cinderella?" "Mhm. Tas'a?" "Yes baby?" "Can I have appwes." She smiled. "Of course." She went to the kitchen and cut up some apples to put in a bowl for Steve. "There you go Stevie Bear." She cooed. "Tank you." He mumbled. "You're welcome." She turned on the movie and sat down beside Steve. He laid his head on her shoulder as he watched and sucked gently on his pacifier.
They ended up watching four or five more movies. Steve fell asleep during the fifth on natashas shoulder. She reached her hand up and ran her fingers through his hair. He held onto Hops and his blanket for dear life as he slept. Natasha read a book while she waited for him to wake up. An hour later he stirred and opened his eyes slowly. His face went red with realization. He wanted to wait until Bucky got home but he couldn't or else he'd get a rash and he doesn't want that. "Aunt Tas'a." He whimpered. "What's wrong Stevie?" He started tearing up. "I need change." He whispered. "Okay. Come on sweetheart." He let a few tears slip down his cheeks and took Natasha's hand so she could change him.
They got to his room and he laid down while Natasha for the supplies she would need. Steve hid his face in his blanket until she was done. She taped up the sides and put his pants back on him. "All done Stevie. You ready for bed?" He nodded and crawled to the other side of the bed. She tucked Steve in and sat at the edge of the bed. "Daddy will be home in the morning. Get some sleep. Okay?" She soothed.
"Kay." He whispered. "Night night, Aunt Tas'a." She smiled at the name. "Good night Steve." She walked out and read a book until Bucky got back. A few hours later she heard the elevator ding and Bucky walked out. "Hey Nat. How was he?" She bookmarked her book and closed it standing up to be almost eye level with Bucky.
"He was good. He was really sweet." Bucky smiled. "Yeah. That's good. Thank you so much." She pulled him in for a quick hug. "You're welcome. It was fun. Call when you need a babysitter." She said as she walked towards the elevator. Bucky sighed heavily and made his way to Steve's room checking on him. He opened the door quietly and poked his head in. His heart melted at the sight. Steve was wrapped up in his blanket, his favorite pacifier bobbing in his mouth, and Hops clutched under his right arm. He closed the door and walked to his room so he could shower and change.
He stripped himself of his sweaty, bloody suit and his boxers. He climbed into the shower and stood under the water for a good thirty minutes before washing his hair and body. He got out a few minutes later and put on a clean pair of boxers and pajama pants. He padded through the hall to Steve's room opening the door. He made his way to Steve's bed and crouched down in front of it running his finger through the sandy hair. "Bubbas. Baby." He whispered. Steve opened his eyes attempting to rub the sleep out of them. "Daddy?" His eyes widened. "Daddy!" He yelled.
Bucky stood up and Steve scrambled to his feet losing Hops and his pacifier in the process. He jumped into Bucky's arms and threw his arms around the brunettes neck. "I miss you." He mumbled. "I missed you too bubba." Bucky heard Steve sniffle. "Daddy. Pease don' weave again." He felt so bad for leaving Steve. "I'm sorry baby. I'll try okay? I love you." Steve sniffled and nuzzled closer. "I wuv you Daddy." Bucky kissed Steve's temple and tried to lay Steve on his bed but he wouldn't let go. "Cmon Stevie. Gotta go night night." Steve shook his head. "Why not baby boy?" Bucky soothed. "Daddy tay?" Bucky rubbed his boys back.
"Daddy stay. Wanna cuddle?" Bucky asked. "Mhm but, paci and Hops." Steve informed. "I'll find them. You lay down." He laid Steve back on the bed and pulled the covers up to his shoulders. He grabbed an extra flashlight fro mute nightstand and started looking.
He found Hops all the way across the room and Steve's pacifier close to being pushed under the bed. He turned off the flashlight and cleaned Steve's pacifier before giving it to the boy. He handed Steve Hops and walked to the other side of the bed laying down across from Steve. "Come here Bubba." Steve came closer and Bucky out his arms around the boys thinner waist nuzzling his neck. Steve laid on Bucky's chest holding his blanket in one hand and Hops in the other. "G'night Stevie." "Night night Daddy."
