Juliette Davis and Natasha Kelly are sitting together under the shade of a large tree, eating sandwiches.
JuLIETTE DAVIS
So who are those girls?
Natasha focuses on her sandwich.
NaTASHA KELLY
Bullies. You know, the usual.
JULIETTE DAVIS
Can't you tell someone about them?
NataSHA KELLY
(laughing dryly)
Like that would do me any good.
Juliette looks sincerely confused.
JULIETTE DAVIS
Why not?
Natasha stares at Juliette in disbelief, then shakes her head.
NATASHA KELLY
Didn't you have them at your old school?
JULIETTE DAVIS
Well...no. People liked each other at my old school.
NATASHA KELLY
Figures.
JULIETTE DAVIS
Hey! What's that supposed to mean?
NATASHA KELLY
Sorry. It's just that your old town seems like the cliche small town from books.
JULIETTE DAVIS
I guess.
The girls sit in silence for a little bit. Leaves flutter in the wind. The courtyard is quite pretty and much quieter than the cafeteria inside.
NataSHA KELLY
(checking watch)
It's getting late. We should probably go inside.
JULIETTE DAVIS
(quietly)
Yeah, probably.
Fade out.
