22. 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍

As Kita and Yui are walking out, the air is tense with Kita in deep thought... or more like a daze. Following closely from behind, Yui observes him.

"Are you okay, Kita-san?" she asks.

"I... don't know," he answers. Worried, Yui walks in front of him.

"What's wrong? Is it because you didn't get to say anything to L/n-san?" Kita hesitates telling Yui but he was confused about what to do.

"What do you do when you mess up with the girl you like, Kakeru-san?" Yui's eyes widen and feels her heart break a bit.

"Do you like someone, Kita-san?"

"I do." Biting on the inside of her cheeks, Yui is contemplating about what to say. She wants to help Kita since he looked so sad, but she also liked him so much.

'Be the better person,' she thinks to herself and gives a shaky sigh. "If you messed up, then I think you should just talk to her about the situation no matter what. If you liked her that much, you wouldn't give up so easily." Kita's eyes widen at her response.

"You're right," Kit says as he remembers Osamu's words from earlier as well. 'F/n would be mad, but if it's her, I shouldn't give up,' he thinks and feels adrenaline pumping in his body. "Thank you, Kakeru-san! Really. I'm sorry I wasn't able to spend the day with you, but I really need to be somewhere!" Kita puts his hands on her shoulder and is about to turn around to run when Yui suddenly grabs his sleeve.

"Before you leave, I wanted to tell you something too!" she says. Kita waits for her to speak again. "I like you!" Yui confesses while her eyes are tightly shut. Kita doesn't answer, so Yui hesitantly opens her eyes to see him giving her an apologetic smile.

"I'm sorry I can't return your feelings... but I really appreciate it, Ka... Yui-san." Kita gives her one last look before running off to find you. While watching his back getting farther and farther from her, tears start to fall out of Yui's eyes.

"I hope you're able to get her back, Kita-san."

As he's running as fast as he can back to the stadium, he only sees staff members who are cleaning.

"Excuse me!" He runs to one of the workers who are sweeping the floor. "Do you know if L/n-san has left yet? I... I'm her assistant!" Kita lies.

"I'm sorry but I think they just left, sir," the worker answers as Kita curses and starts to run around who knows where. Grabbing his phone, he dials your number to call you to only be ignored.

"Please, N/n-san! Answer!" he pleads. While you are in the car with Mikage--barely leaving the stadium--you hear your phone ring and immediately hang it up.

"I need to get a new number again," you say while staring out of the window.

"I'll make sure to get it immediately for you, N/n-chan," Mikage responds as he is sitting on the front seat while looking through his ipad. As you tiredly look out the window, you see a figure running around like a maniac. Squinting your eyes to look closer at who it is, your heart stops.

"Stop the car," you say.

"What?"

"Stop the car!!" you say louder now as the car screeches and stops. Immediately, you unbuckle your seatbelt and open the door while making sure to put a mask over your face.

"What are you doing, N/--" You ignore Mikage as you run out of the door. You didn't understand why you did that but your feet moved on its own and by the time you knew it, you were standing right in front of a panting Kita. Staring into each other's eyes in silence, Kita opens his mouth to speak when you speak first.
