Why was this happening?

Why couldn't he see the truth?

Why?

Why?

W h y ?

She wanted him to see the truth, the truth that she hid behind vibrant smiles.

The truth that she masked, shrouded in mystery and hidden from the world and prying eyes.

She wanted him to know.

But she was afraid.

She was afraid of rejection.

She was afraid she would ruin his happiness, and plunge him into a dark abyss.

And more than anything, she wanted him to be happy.

So why?

She would go to the ends of earth, to the peak of heaven and to the depths of hell for him.

She would go to the moon for him.

And back.

Yet, he still couldn't see.

He could tell her to jump, and she would ask how high.

She wanted him to be happy.

She wanted to see him smile.

His smile, so bright that it could light up an entire room.

His soft laughter, that sounded like undiscovered music.

She had seen all those things, right in front of her.

Yet, those things weren't for her, they were for another.

But she was okay with that.

He was happy.

She would be glad for him, and place a carefully designed cage over her heart.

She would melt the key, letting the molten metal drip between her fingers.

For him.

She would lock her feelings away, and let him have his happiness.

His happiness mean everything to her.

The green light would turn red, and stay red.

The light would then disappear all together, but she didn't mind.

She didn't mind at all.

For, the light went to a better place.

And she was fine.

Because she loved him, even if only she knew.

And that was okay.
