Spring Wind On Chubby Skin

I applaud the fierce winds of March
for chasing away the
pale, winter boogeymen.
Spring has brought my laughter back
A reunion of joy,
sandals
and cool, fragrant grass.
Depression is swept up like cobwebs
and thrown out with the sad, rotting
snowman noses
and stale, dusty pledges
of self-improvement and promises
of wilted, pathetic dinner salads
(fat-free, carb-free, JOY-free)
I shed my winter skin
and all notion of being
someone who takes up
less space.
I am gloriously, happily,
Me.
Warm and sun-dappled
and free...
