The First Time In A Long Time Since Last Time

You and Shane have been quite distant over the past year. Of course, you still share the same apartment, bed, and so on. But you haven't really acted like a couple in a long time. You've been contemplating whether or not you want to stay and be sad, or leave and be sad. Either way you're losing the one person you once loved. Shane came home from work early and set down his things.

"Y/n?" You emerged from the hallway after crying from having a long thought on your decision. "I'm going to take you to dinner."

"Oh ok." The smallest smile crept onto your face as you really didn't want to go. The spark between you two just wasn't there and spending time with him at the moment wasn't something on your mind. You walked back into the bedroom and picked out a nice, flowy, black dress. You did your hair and put a little bit of mascara on before Shane came into the room wearing a suit.

"Ready?" He said with a smile. His smile so wide it sent shivers down your spine, the first time in a long time.

"Yeah." Shane grabbed your hand and lead you out of the door. At the restaurant, you were both seated and it really did feel like the first time you went to dinner. "Shane, why did you take me to dinner all of a sudden?"

"We've just been so distant the last year and, and," You cut him off by grabbing his hand.

"That's all you have to say, Shane. I get it." He let out a big sigh.

"I'm so sorry." You shook your head.

"Don't say sorry. Yeah this may be a little awkward but it feels good. I'm glad were doing this." You both ate your food and decided to go for a walk on the town. Holding hands, walking down the street, laughing, and smiling, it felt like the first time. It was towards the end of the night when Shane stopped you by the car.

"Y/n, I just want to say that I've really missed you. It feels like forever ago since we actually acted like a couple." You couldn't help but notice the sadness in his eyes making you sad yourself. All you wanted to see from him was joy, you figured there was only one way to do that. You pulled his face down to yours and kissed him. It felt like the first time in a long time since last time.
