As if waking up from a dream she never wanted to end, Jess gradually opened her eyes. Even this small action felt like a hundred-year old door being pried wide. Light hit her carmel-colored eyes and a headache soon pulsed in the back of her head. Her throat was dry as she swallowed, like she'd been gnawing on sandpaper, and a wince soon followed.

Choosing to ignore the ache in her neck, she took a look at her surroundings. Metallica, Mötley Crüe, and Quiet Riot posters littered the beige walls on her right side.
