Have you ever wondered what it would be like to love someone across the world?
Across the atlantic ocean to another world is where you cut our cord; one cut was all it took.
So shallow, yet so deep.
I wanted to know you were someone I could keep,
but how could I keep you when you're transatlantic?
When we used to talk my stomach would want to fly, but now it seems to concur with my brain.
Transatlantic love is much too far.
Might as well have a transatlantic coffee with that, and maybe a transatlantic book along for the ride.
Please just let me hide away.
I'd much rather have something more tangible.
This love isn't real and neither is our world.
It's time to let go. This love is no longer compatible.
~
Authors note: I wrote this in 2015 when I broke it off with a boy who I was with who broke me in different ways I didn't know possible. I want to share this poem with any of you girls out there who may feel like you deserve more because I promise, you do. Also, don't be afraid to leave a situation that hurts you.
