19 - Give Me the Green Light

Giggling at the chaos called sneaking into Calum's room, Michael sat on the edge of Calum's bed with a wide grin as he stared towards the owner of the room where Calum nonchalantly viewed him looking at him.

"Luke would kill me if he knew that I was here."

"Who cares about what he thinks?" Calum said with a playful grin, placing himself in a chair that he dragged from the corner of the room to in front of the bed.

"True." Michael played along with a matching grin.

"Have you two spoken ever since the whole scene at the party happened?" Calum asked, referencing to the large argument that happened between the two outside of the party.

"No." Michael sighed, "We probably should."

"Why don't you just sleep over and talk to him when you wake up? It's already three in the morning and he's probably asleep."

"Why are you helping me?" Michael curiously asked.

"As much as Hemmings and Irwin annoy me with their petty drama, it can be entertaining at times. You and Hemmings speaking will add to that fuel."

Michael hummed and said, "And here I thought you wanted to play the hero and repair a broken relationship?"

Calum chuckled, "I seem to be the only one out of the loop about this whole situation and with your past, but I know for a fact that Hemmings doesn't deserve you."

"And why would you say that?"

"Because you're too good for him. For any of us."

"Oh if only you knew." Michael smiled, but Calum saw the hidden pain underneath.

Michael was hurting and struggling, and he just wanted to crawl through his skin. Sometimes it felt like he couldn't breathe and he just wanted fresh air. But no matter how many times he goes outside and even lights up a cigarette, Michael can never stop feeling constricted. He needed to get out of New York fast and for good.

"I would like to know."

"It'll ruin your fun."

"I don't care. Plus it won't. Being in your company is always fun."

"This is the first time we're even technically hanging out, Calum. All of our other interactions have been revolved around arguments." Michael laughed, making Calum show a genuine smile.

He understood now how Luke and Ashton could become so soft for Michael. He felt himself falling into that sphere himself, and he just couldn't stop it from happening. Michael was an interesting soul that seemed to pull in others like a gravitational pole, well with Calum, Luke, and Ashton at least.
